Hi to everyone. I have a question for you guys. Presently I have an LG 37LC2D wich has an HDMI input and a 1080i resolution. Pairing the tv for the moment (blu-ray is on the way), I have an Philipps DVP 3960 wich has HDMI output and video upscaling. So far I've been using a HDMI 1.3 cable directly to my TV. I wanted to add my old home theatre witch consists of an JVC RX-7010V (no HDMI of course) and JBL speakers.. What I end up with is having to connect the dvd to my receiver for audio through Coax but the problem is that I get all the surrounding sound but I don't have any voice at all. I'm kinda stuck at the moment wanting to get my Home theatre working before i get my blu ray... does any1 have an idea??? Thanks

So you have your DVD player connected to the TV via HDMI and the JVC receiver via digital coax and you hear sound in all 5 speakers but no voice? When playing a DVD, does your JVC's digital decoder light up and say DD 5.1 or something to that affect? If so, it sounds like a possible setting issue. Voice for the most part should be comming from your center channel, so I would focus on that. When set to DD 5.1/DTS you can usually calibrate the seperate chanels in the menu. Turn the center channel up and see and make sure that speaker is connected properly.

Check in the DVD's audio menu to see if optical/coax or DD 5.1 or something like that needs to be selected. Some DVD players had issues with using HDMI and a seperate digital audio connection.

Try a new coax or optical cable.

If I use DD, it does show on the receiver that it's using DD, As for the DVD audio settings. I don't have much of a choice except ALL wich inclues DDand DTS, NONE or MIC in wich I end up having PCM but no DD but like you said I will focus on the center chanel.... thanks for the heads up on this

If you haven't already, set the dvd player's sound out to bitstream not PCM and you should get the the sound sent to all your speakers.
