Hi,
I've been searching this forum and the net on/off for awhile now. I'm am looking for a quality compression tool for RG6 cable for my home (and most like friends after they find out i have it). i already have the good quality RG6 cable & T&B connectors. is there one tool that is the best or are there several good ones? i've seen on other places the T&B IT 1000 is really good. I don't mind spending some money but don't want to waste it either. i want better quality because i don't want to be frustrated putting on the ends or damage the RG6 because that would defeat the purpose of re-wiring the whole house.

thanks for the help

Since you have RG6 cable, I am assuming that your T&B connectors are their SNS1P6 or SNS1P6Q connectors.

According to a compatibility chart I found on http://www.techtoolsuppy.com these connectors seem to be compatible with most compression tools designed for use with RG6 and RG6Q cables. Check out the chart because many of the tools are designed for use with a limited number of connectors while others are more versatile. You'll also need a good stripping tool.

I know of a couple of "universal" compression tools that are not on the chart. The Channel Master PCT-A10-CT and the Paladin SealTite Pro (part number 1155).

In fact, Paladin Tools has a nice SealTite Pro kit (part number 4910) that I have just ordered for my own use. It contains a good coax wire cutter, a stripping tool, a flaring tool (saves your finger tips when peeling back the braid on a fresshly stripped cable), their SealTite Pro stripper and 10 of their SealTite RG6 compression connectors. Before ordering the kit I checked its compatibility with all the RG59, RG6 and RG6Q connectors that I am aware of and the T&B connectors are definitely on its compatibility list. Check out http://www.paladin-tools.com for details.

I am sure there are other good tools available from other manufacturers as well.

Paladin is like top of the line. Maybe Sargent. You can get by with cheaper if this is a one-time job, but if you want it done right the first time and it's a job worth doing, the better tools in competent hands are a winning combination.
