Issues with RF/IR universal remote & U-verse

I am a custom A/V installer and I recently ran across a problem with the motorola u-verse receivers and a universal remote. Ok, here we go......

Customer has 3 uverse receivers, 2 are located in an equipment closet between the two tv's they are feeding.

-Receiver #1 is feeding living room tv, this is the location with the RF/IR universal remote, I programmed the remote to operate the tv in that room and the dvd player located in the equipment closet next to receiver #1 ok, so far so good then I noticed that receiver #2 was changing channels along with receiver #1 with the commands coming from the universal remote (this remote spits out RF and IR commands at the same time) at first I thought it was just the ir emitter spilling over from #1 to #2, then I placed a cover over the emitter on #1 so that there was no way it could spill over to #2, but #2 still picked it up.

So as one more test I went into the customers bedroom where receiver #3 is located to see if it too was picking up on the commands from the universal remote and just as I suspected it was picking up on the commands from the uni control also (obviously I DID NOT have the uni remote pointing AT receiver #3 because it would have picked up the IR commands coming from the uni.)

So after scratching my head for a second I am thinking that ALL the u-verse receivers are picking up the RF commands from the uni remote, but how is this possible? I thought the u-verse receivers ONLY receive IR commands? After scouring the u-verse manual I saw nothing about RF/IR settings or even the POSSIBILITY to receive any RF commands, so has this been a problem for anyone else? Or am I just crazy? LOL

PLEASE HELP!!! lol

Are you using the MX-900 remote RF receivers, 1 for #1 and 1 for #2. Are they set for different units?

I had no idea that the U-verse boxes would respond to RF remotes, so it seems like maybe something else is going on.

I am using the RF20 remote packaged with a power blaster (I think it is called the RFS200 power pack or something like that) it is a cheaper remote pack but it USUALLY works without any issues lol.

I am only using the uni remote on receiver #1, receiver #2 has an IR kit on it and I programmed the u-verse remote to control the basic functions of the tv (this is the tv located in the kitchen, with receiver #2 feeding this tv)

the REALLY strange part of it all is that the bedroom receiver (#3) has absolutely no IR or RF anything on it except the remote that came with the receiver out of the box, and the uni remote (again, it was not pointed at receiver #3 at all) controlled it's functions also! I know I know, it is making me scratch my head too.

weird man, just weird. lol

I have found that the Motorola IR sensors in the U-verse boxes are very tricky. When testing on a customer's system I actually had to tape the IR receiver on the box to keep the box from picking it up, yet when pointed directly at the box it would sometimes not pick up the codes. I was using a MX-850.

Also I tried several IR kits that didn't work with U-verse. Xantech and Niles didn't work for me at all. I use an old Terk Leapfrog wired system at my house and it is very picky about aiming using the U-verse remote. The most successful system I found was the Radio Shack RF system. So I use those as repeaters, even for the programmable remotes.

You may need to use a small emitter shielded on the front of the U-verse box rather than the blaster. Other than that I got nothing.
