After a ton of research, I've discovered that that's done by design. It is their way of making the group more "closed" so not everyone can join it and post there. It's not "private".

There is a hack available that will do this, but it's not pretty. I'd be more inclined to wait until the vB team comes out with their next version which should contain this feature (at least I told them they should, and since our company owns their company..... I have no power, so nevermind). Seriously, the issue has been addressed by many on their site.

So we will likely have to wait for the next version which is expected to address the issue of the private Invite Only groups to have the posts private?

LOL, I'm sorry... Yes, yesterday was a very long day. Yes, IB owns vB. And yes, we will likely have to wait for the next version of vB to address this issue. There is a plugin that will address it, but not that well. The thing is, if we use this plugin and then end up having to disable the plugin to upgrade, then there is a chance those private conversations will be exposed to the outside. Also, since it's something vB is likely to address, we'd rather just wait for them to do it right.

There have been a number of people requesting this, and the response from vB has been that "The purpose of invite only groups is not to make groups that are private, it's to make groups that just everyone can't join and post to" [paraphrased].

Not yet. This is the first version of the social groups, so I'm SURE that features like this will be slowly rolled out.

I'm not sure, but I know they are frantically working on v4 of vB. I've heard a bunch of different timelines. That's not my department, LOL.
