Hello all,

After doing a lot of homework lately and very new to this HD stuff, I have never owned a receiver before this and would like anyone's input on the pro's and con's of the following receivers which I am looking to purchase very soon out of these 4 models. Everything is helpful from hard or easy set-up to minor deficiencies. All I really know about receivers is you need this for your speakers.

1) Pioneer Elite SC-07
2) Onkyo TX-SR876
3) Denon AVR-3808CI
4) Yamaha RXV3800B

Thanks for all help in advance.
Cheers,
John

I prefer the Onkyo receiver. The most options, features and bang for the buck. Others here prefer Denon and Yamaha predominantly and you really cant go wrong with any of the ones you selected. In my experience though, feature for feature, power for power and quality in build you can't go wrong with the Onkyo. And it is the only one of the four that has 2 HDMI outputs as well as some other features the others don't have.

Thanks so very much for your input (Loves2Watch). I was at the specialty dealer today and finally made my choice. I went with the Pioneer SC-07. Had to pre-order as they can't keep them in stock so have to wait for about 10 business days. This receiver also has dual HDMI outputs like the Onkyo. A big factor on this was the price offered to me on this receiver. The MRSP is $2200 Canadian and I got if for $1750 with a little bit of haggling not bad I think as was planning on paying around $2500.

My next big step and final is the speaker set to hear with. Don't know much about speakers yet, but have to do some more homework with that situation in the very near future. Was listening to Paradigm speakers with this today and sounded good, but need to hear a lot more yet. I plan on buying 3 to start with and continue afterwards. Things are very expensive for good quality. Probably looking at $3000-$4000 for the speaker system I think. Any suggestions on which brand of speakers are good to look at? I want very good quality in the price range mentioned. Again tks a bunch.

Cheers,
John
