Media Center FF freezes program

I'm using Vista 32 Media Center for recording TV. That's all this computer is used for. I have a problem that's really getting to me and I don't know what to do. When I record a show it works out great. However, sometimes, well a lot of the time, when I go to fast forward using either the 30 second skip or regular FF it stops doing anything. I have waited for it to see if it resumes but it doesn't. I have to kill Media Center off and restart.

I'd given up on it for a couple of months until today. It seems that only some shows have this problem, and sometimes I'll get half way through the show and it will happen meaning I either start over, with no fast forward, or not use ff at all.

I've just made sure today that Vista has all of it's updates and the video drives for the GeForce NVidia card are current. Since it's the start of TV season and we have two little ones it's important to get this working.

Is this a factory built media PC or a PC you put together?

It was a factory built one that the power supply died on it. Since I couldn't get a new one I took out some of the parts and put it back together. It worked for awhile and then started having problems.

Many times home built HTPCs will run into interrupt problems. I'd try moving cards about to see if that helps.
