Hello all,

First off I am very new to all this kind of stuff. I thought that this is the best place to ask my questions. I currently have the following equip below:
52" Sharp HDTV
2X - HD PVR's
Samsung BP-P1500 Blu-Ray player
Monster 5100 power centre
XBOX 360
All cables are monster HDMI

I am looking for a 7.1/7.2 HD receiver which will handle all this equipment. It's like a candy store out there and I only have the eletronic stores to depend on my decision. They only want to sell you their stuff. I want total true HD experience and have paid a lot so far to get it. What receiver brand and speakers are good for me to get? Budget on this system would range between $3000-$4000. Tks for all the help.

Cheers,
John

If you could give a budget for what you are willing to spend on Reciever and/or speakers it will be much easier to help.

For a receiver I would reccomend one of the onkyo tx-sr805/806 (~$600-$850) or possibly the tx-nr905 (~$1200-1500). Or possibly the Yamaha RX-v863 (~$800 & a 7.2 receiver) or yamaha rx-v1900 (~$1200). All are great recievers leaving plenty left for speakers in your budget. You really need to seek out a specialty shop and listen to some speakers. I chose Paradigm and love my setup but in your price range I would also look at B+W (Bowers and Wilkins), Definitive Technology, Kef. That is a good basis to start. Any combination of the above will give you a kick ass system.
