My xbox elite with HD DVD palyer crapped out on me months ago. I really SHOULD have gone after the warantee offer but busy me I never found the time to do it, meanwhile I have gone months and months w/o a movie player.

Finally broke down and bought an xbox pro system yesterday. I hooked up my HDMI cable from my elite, wireless internet and snapped in my 120GB hard drive. I also plugged in my hd dvd player.

The thing is, my xbox elite used to have a split circle where you choose either the console dvd player or the bottom half is hd dvd. I assume the deal is that it just need some kind of update so it recognizes the hd dvd player. I'm sure the xbox hd dvd player came with some kind of installation disk... well I must have tossed that out ages ago. the player is on and plugged in.. i'll be sorely dissapointed if i can no longer get my hd dvd player working again.. hd dvd w/o a question dead but ive got about 50 of my favorite movies in high def that are eons beyond what my standard dvd looks like.

any suggestions?

Call MS about it. There is probably a software download for it to work.

Good luck!

Xbox 360 HD DVD drive came with a driver CD (green label). You will need to install the driver CD for new X360 console to see the HD DVD drive.

After installed the driver, when you start HD DVD movies, it will force you to download a HD DVD update before you can watch any HD DVD movies if your X360 is connected to Xbox Live.
