Hello i just registered today and wow it feels great to finally find the right place for my q's. I appreciate any responses. Well first off i have been thinking of buying Sony's STR-DG920. I know its Sony's "high end mid lvl" and have read good stuff about it on cnet and other sites. I plan on hooking up my PC, xbox and HD Cable through its HDMI inputs. Any reflections or thoughts, suggestions on this would be great.

Now to the speaker system. Ive looked into Boston Acoustics Micro System 9000...which has excellent reviews overall. It is a bit too much tho, id prefer to spend less. But if it is worth it and if compliments the Sony STR-DG920 well id go for it. Question is will it be a compliment? If not what would be recommended? For anyone that has taken their time to read and/or reply to this i thank you dearly...they'll hire anyone at these stores..if you know what i mean.

Sony is NOT known for their receivers. You would do much better with Onkyo, Denon, Harman Kardon, Pioneer, Yamaha and a host of others which are better performers and less problematic. If you give us a budget for both the receiver and speakers, we will be able to direct you towards some nice equipment.

So I say, nix the Sony and find something that will perform better for you over a long period of time.

Something like this would serve you well - http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKTXSR805/Onkyo/TX-SR805-7.1-Channel-Home-Theater-Receiver-BLACK/1.html

As for speakers I prefer Paradigm but you must audition and purchase them at a local retailer. There are many excellent brands of speakers available but you will do yourself a favor if you go audition them yourself. Music is in the ears of the beholder and what sounds good to some may not sound good to you.
