I`ve been having problems playing 720p movies on my computer...Nothing seems to do the trick i`ve tried different codecs, different players(VLC, WMP classic, zoom...) upgrade to service pack3 from 2...When I open the movie in vlc the picture changes the frame every few minutes, the closest i`ve been is with wmp classic when it playes it very slow. The sound is there just not the picture. With one programe for playing hd movies the programme told me that my comp is to slow...? Here are my specs:
amd anthlon xp 2600+
1,15 Ghz, 1gb ram
nvidia 660gt (with omega drivers)
Someone PLEASE help me i`m desperate...

THX

im pretty sure its due to lack of hardware. 1.15ghz just isn't enough to handle HD

Thx I will try those codecs...But in case they dont do the trick, i was thinking of buying a new computer anyway...What are the optimum specs to look for in buying one regarding playing the hd movies? Speed, graphics card etc... ? Can you give me an example? THX guys...

most 720p digital movies (.mp4, .mkv, etc...) don't take advantage of hardware acceleration (graphics card) with the software that plays them.

I have a box that plays HD content. It plays 720 easily, and can swallow most 1080p. It's a 2.5ghz AMD dual core, and 2gb of ram. If you should maybe slightly higher than that, or get a quad core even, you can probably play anything. The graphics card won't matter too much in this case.
