NMT Players: EHP-606 mini & Popcorn A-110

I am deciding to buy one of them, but they are both wonderful media players, one is well-design (that's what I like), the other has the famous name, it is reported that they are both well-performed, anyone has experiences to share with me, thanks!

I got the news from MPC CLUB that they are using the same firmware, I bought Popcorn A100, it is full of bugs before firmware update.

But EHP-606 MINI has indeed nice design, I have ordered one, and waiting for its arrival....

I was recommended by MPC Club, which spead news everyday, I don't it either before they recommend EHP-606 ( I bought PopCorn before that also)

However, as far as I see, EHP-606 has very good quality, made of aluminium alloy, others made of plastic, including Popcorn I had. It has switch too, others haven't. But I think the most attracts me is that it has good heat dissipation, no noise at all...

Well, its design attracts me too, very stylish, the case of it is reported special for EHP-606, designed themselves. I think tomorrow I will get my EHP-606, will take a close look at it...

I went to MPC club again today, but I need your details, I want one thing worth of its value!

It was so busy this week, so many trifles, but fortunately I have time to test my EHP-606 mini...

The first impression it gave me is that it is of good quality as clean as a whistle, made of aluminium alloy, two USB slaves and switch on the right side and Component, composite and VGA video output, Coaxial and HDMI1.3 audio ourput in the rear, as well as the ethernet and power supply port with USB device near it, fabulous!

As of now the unit has met by expectations in terms of heat dissipation is excellent as the unit is only warm when felt with the palm of your hand having it deliberatly power-on for about 6 hours.

The remote controller is not as smooth in terms of responding and this could be due to the limited angle of the infra-red.

MyiHome able to stream a movie (MP4-H264) from a 3 yr old Compaq Presario (XP) wireless over 54Mbps is smooth enough without any lag or shutters. Distance from the EHP-606 was about 12ft away.

Notebook (1GB Ram 1.86GHz) ---- Dlink DIR-655 Router ..... 100Mbps Lan to EHP-606 Mini ... HDMI to Pioneer Plasma TV

Will test out streaming 720p and 1080p mkv with Acer Aspire 4920 Duo Processor T8100 (2.1Ghz 2GB DDR2) if there are any lag or shuttering.

I have so many things to do now..

you guys are not much more lucky than me, I got it earlier, last weekend I enjoyed my cartoons, playback of TS files were smooth. Play back of TS, ISO, AVI and Mp4 from the internal SATA hard disk installed in the EHP-606 were smooth. wonderful!

;) I got my EHP-606 earlier fortunately! I would like to say it fit my HDTV so well, just watch my high definition movies of all kinds of format, it works very well!

Ah... Popcorn A110 is reported to have some bugs on the hardware, waiting to be sovled now..

fyi, I found that UI of ELEKTRON is different from my PoPcorn's! it is very beautiful, should be designed by themselves!

O..it is so expensive, not everyone can buy it, such as me, I heard it is reported that the firmware are not satisfied by their users, who want to buy NMT players again, however, everyone's need vary..

O... TviX, I bought one, high price, but personally I like EHP-606 design more with very mature software platform!

:p I have both EHP-606 and PCH-A100, both are having the "slim" design look but I prefer the Elektron due to the casing material use ie like got "classy" look. If you're staying in cool environment then this won't affect you but not when in the tropics where the weather is humid and temperature varies between 35 to 50 deg C.

EHP-606 on earth has very outstanding heat dissipation for those who use it for long time, I think so!

But I got a problem today, I cannt use the TPlink matched with EHP-606, but it works on my notebook, does anyone have this problem?

A good news, TP-link TL-WN821N ver:2.0 works with 606 too if you installed the latest firmware released in Nov.

The latest firmware supports both versions of TP-Link USB.

btw, the 606 is going at USD199 for limited sets at www.elektronhd.com. seems like they ship worldwide also.
