already posted this on the 2008 NFL thread but figured this might deserve its own thread.

I started a thread too, I didn't see yours. I approached the "This is bad for the NFL" angle.

Yeah read the post of yours and agree. Everyone else is probably happy as hell. As a cowboy fan it does make our chances a hell of a lot better but at the same time you want to beat the best so it kind of taints it a little. But its also a little funny since i hate the pats and brady. Not saying I want anyone to get hurt but after the screwed up call against the Raiders and the whole spygate thing its about time that the bad karma comes around. Poor brady loses the superbowl after the their no loss season and now has to sit around and think about it for a whole year. It says the Pats are flying in Chris Simms so anyone want to guess on the Pats chances or record? This will prove how good Brady really is though.

What a difference two games make. I'll bet he'd like to have them back.

Bad karma indeed.

The official word still isn't out yet as he's going in for more tests today.

Speculation is that he's done for the season. It could still turn out to be something other than a torn ACL and if so its possible he could return late season.

Well we will see if the rest of the team can suck it up. Now is when the coaching will come in big time. Also the O line better step up because they are going to have to run alot more.

Bellicheat better get his vid gear ready big time this season ;) Seriously tho, the backup played well. I wonder how good is their 3rd string QB since there is always a chance of another injury...

There 3rd string QB Kevin O Connell has a a HUGE arm. Probably wont start at all this year since he is a rookie though.

I want to see Matt Cassell (USC) do well. However, I bet they bring in somebody like Chris Simms or Tim Rattay to compete with Matt.

I doubt it. The Patriots have done what they always have done. Keep the players they think can win it for them. If they didn't have faith in Cassell, he wouldn't be on the team.

That's not saying if someone else doesn't become available that they wouldn't get them, but wasn't Simms and Rattay available already?

I think they are going to have a tough year but can still do very well. Defense is very important and the running game will probably need to improve. I expect with this coaching staff though that they will find a way to still do well.

Where it will really hurt is in the quick decision making. Such as brady knowing they are in field goal range and throwing the ball away rather then take a sack taking them out of range. Cassell made this mistake Sunday - Brady probably wouldn't have.

It also needs to be noted that the team with the best record from all of last year plays the weakest schedule. That's the experts words, not mine.

Hopefully that will work out in their favor then :D
