design1314 09-06-2008, 01:17 PM I have wired my computer desktop with a DVI converter to HDMI-HDMI cable to my HDTV that I got from Monoprice, the TV somehow keeps on blinking (sometime very fast some times minimal) when I view the conputer screen on the TV. I didn't have this problem before when I wired it without the DVI converter. Please help~

It's possible that adding the converter has made it so the video card is not able to properly read the EDID from the TV and is attempting to set the resolution and refresh at an incompatible setting. It might help to know what you mean by DVI converter to HDMI-HMDI. Do you have a part #?
design1314 09-06-2008, 05:24 PM hey mobiushky!! Thanks for the help again!! I've been busy w installing hehe
I got this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&p_id=2029&seq=1&format=2 and this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024005&p_id=4032&seq=1&format=2 However the DVI looks pretty much the same as the old one that I had.

So if I understand correctly, you have the adapter plugged into the DVI port on your PC and then the HDMI cable plugged into that? Then HDMI plugged into your TV? Correct?
How exactly did you have it before? Without the converter? If that was working, why did you change?
I wonder if possibly you have a loose connection in the converter/HDMI link somewhere?

design1314 09-06-2008, 07:47 PM oh ya and the HK 5.1 did not impressive me :( I have the HK Logic 7 in my car, that is good. Maybe I still need to play around with the settings of the eq..etc. By the way, I used the 1/8 headphone plug from the desktop to Receiver, I thought I have the coax/optical output but I don't :T
mobiushky 09-06-2008, 08:21 PM I think maybe you are experiencing a loose connection or possible a bad cable or connector. Why did you switch? The previous cable should be pretty good for what you want to do.
AS for the surround, you probably are going to have to tweak it a bit to get it to sound the way you want for your room. EQ and channels volumes both. Enjoy... LOL!

I needed a longer hdmi-hdmi (in white same as my wall) they didn't have one in black, just moved last week to a new apartment. :) Appreciated for the help!
design1314 09-06-2008, 11:03 PM I did some EQ settings and surround adjusts :D the sound is MUCH better now! i guess it's okay that I am not using digital out from the computer because mp3 does not support 5.1

You should not see any difference in audio quality over the short distances you are using anyway. If you had your PC 50' away, maybe there would be some difference, but you will probably never be able to hear any real difference between digital and audio at the distance you have. The biggest benefit to digital is one cable versus 6. Slightly less rat's nest looking. LOL!
Good to hear it's going well.
design1314 09-08-2008, 02:35 PM update: I tried using the HDMI 2 and 3 output on the TV instead of 1 that didn't work. And it works now! Very Weird... I am sure that output is not broken because I am now using the same one for PS3.

This is actually one of the biggest complaints about the HDMI format. There is no captive locking mechanism. So you run the chance of having a less than perfect connection. It's possible that the tolerance of the cables and connections is just enough off that you are seeing problems. It's really tough to say why it did that on only one input.
