I was really worried about the Pat's after Brady left the game, but Cassell wasn't so bad and the defense stepped it up too.

We are going to have sort of a retro Super Bowl as it will be like going back in time when this years Super Bowl teams are the Dallas Cowboys & the Pittsburgh Steelers. And we will get the same old result, Pittsburgh beats Dallas in 2009 Super Bowl:yippee:

I meant the first two times when the games weren't fixed.
We all know Neil O'Donnell & Larry Brown had a master scheme setup as O'Donnell made Brown a Superstar so Brown could take a fortune from Al Davis for making 2 int's in his life & now Brown pays O'Donnell $50K a year & buys him a new Caddy every Christmas.
I figured everyone knew about that:confused::confused::confused:;)

Can't I talk any smack at all on this board without being considered dead serious anymore?
Poppy I was only joking I promise & never would say anything that wasn't joking when it comes to stuff like that as it is only a game. I have lived in the Cincy area almost all my life being a Steeler fan. And am just used to joking with Bengal fans all the time usually by the way of friendly smack talk.
In reality...
The Bengals looked pathetic the other day as I don't see any reason that team shouldn't score at least 21 pts a game...BUT... I also am not sold on Mike Tomlin or our offensive line, so beating the crap out of the Texans means nothing to me.

No problem, I agree. Smack talk is one of the many things that makes this sport great. It does suck to be cursed and like a horrible team. You would not believe the people that tell me the Bengals suck you need to find a new team, well I'm sure you know as well as I do it dont work like that, you cant just change teams. Plus it will be more rewarding if they ever pull their head out of their rear's and do something. I live in PA so all I hear is how great the Steelers are. Every year the tv stations around here have them in the Super bowl before the season starts. It just gets a little old.
I think we had this talk last year, and I do have to say I'm starting to see your side on Marvin Lewis. There is now way the Off should be this bad. But I am also starting to question Carson,, he looked terrified even when there was no blitz. :helpme

My two best friends are bengal fans & we play COD4 on xbox every night so we talk football alot then sometimes & they think Carson has gotten gun-shy about taking a hit in that knee again.
I would love to be a fly on the wall in the bengals locker room everyday as there has to be some serious tension in there.
As far as the smack talk it is hard to know the way a guy is coming off with what he is saying when you can;t see him. I need to learn to use more of those smiley face icons as that may let people know I am just having fun.

Week one is done and here is how I saw it.......
Atlanta fans are rejoicing for their new savior Ryan nobody on peachtree street is missing Vick now... meanwhile Detroit fans have to be thinking "here we go again".
Eagles soar but a blowout against a team that should change their moniker to a Ewe is not much to brag about,... the big test will come Monday nite.
Redskins coach Zorn looked very unstable about having the controls of Washingtons Gibbless troops..and the Giants only putting up 16 against a ship without a captain doesnt make one swell with confidence.
Da Bears looked like Super Bowl Champs on Viagra as they made Chumps outta Indys Colts...sure Payton was rusty but that shouldnt carry over to a defense that looked virtually helpless against what has been the most impotent offense in the league the past two years..
Mediocrity seems to be the the norm for Minnesota as Jackson will lose many more games for the Vikes than he will ever win..Farveless Greenbay held on to win but any thoughts that Brett wasnt the heart, soul and sheer will that drove this team to a 13-3 record last year are long gone..
Buffalo shows that the hawks of Seattle have a great deal repairing to do and I for one dont think Holmgren has another rebuilding season in him...Bills give their fans reason for excitment and thoughts of a division championship.
Farve throws up another prayer and it is answered just goes to show somtimes its just great to be lucky...or blessed. Miami gave Dolphin fans reason for hope since they had a chance to tie or win at the end...and match last years win total in week one...
Can the mighty Patriot machine fuction without its most important cog? Master mechanic Billichek has his greatest coaching challenge ahead of him for this season, but I think the system can still make the playoffs even without Brady.
KC best put their hopes on a high draft choice and thank God they have very loyal fans....
The Raiders prove that no matter how many flash skill players you sign or draft that without the core of a good football team (insert offensive and defensive line) you just are not going to win many games in this league...The Broncos on the other hand looked playoff ready not sure if that was team preparedness or just the fact they were playing the Raiders Jay Cutler looked like the second or third best QB in the league and this only his third year I say he will be the next great QB in the NFL
Dallas looked as good as everyone predicted and Clevland still seems a couple of players shy of finally making it to the super bowl....
Panthers win against the Chargers 2.5 million dollars,... The look on coach Norv Turners face after the last second touchdown by Jake....Priceless...
Ravens prove they dont give one Ocho-Cinco about beating the Bengals.
The Steelers looks like the "Steel" is back in Pittsburg and Houston has to begin to ask when are these first rounders going to begin to give the kind of effort that results in victories...

They should let the Bengals & Rams play one game, at least there wouldn't be two 0-16 teams this year;)
I haven't seen the Rams play but I have seen the Bengals & man they are sad. What suprises me about Cincy is the one position on their team that I think is stable, QB Carson Palmer, has looked very unstable.
I still couldn't believe Deion Sanders was doggin Palmer though on the NFL Network today. He was saying what great WR's he had, & how he was blaming everyone but hisself last year. Deion needs to quit taking up for those losers Chad & TJ as if it wasn't for Palmer being a great QB they would have never had the good years they did have recieving.
The problem in Cincy this year is everybody from the Owner down to the waterboy are not on the same page.

Week 2
Dr. Jeckell where is Mr. Hyde?
Man oh Man how many Jeckel/Hyde games were played this weekend....lets see Bears have a 17-3 lead evoporate against the Panthers...celebrated Bears "D" cant seal the deal in Charlotte.
Minnesota goes out in front of Indy on 5 fieldgoals only to have Peyton put the Colts on his shoulder and arm and win it at the buzzer..
Greenbay gets large lead only to see it go down the drain against a Detroit team that roared back only to self destruct and lose big in the end...
Broncos coach Mike Shanahan must have a lucky horseshoe in his back pocket as his
Broncos go way out in front Chargers only to lose the lead and then with the help of a blown call (cough, cough) strike for the winning score and 2 point conversion...
the NY Giants watch the hapless Ewes of St. Louis get dangerously close after building up a substantial lead early....Rams realize who they are however mid game and fold into submission...
Atlanta fans come to the realization that a team is not rebuilt in one off-season and fall to earth after loss to the Bucaneers of Tampa Bay.
San Fran outlast the Hawks from Seattle and put the early divisional lead squarley in the hands of the Arizona Cardinals who now probably have a few more believers in their camp after a very impressive win against the Fins of Miami.....hmmmmm, maybe 1-15 wasnt so bad after all...
Raiders show the world the talents of Mcfadden and just how bad KC seems to be...the Chiefs may not be the worst team in the league however as Bengal fans may claim that title as a miserable loss to the Titans at home makes the Bell toll a bit louder for the end of Marvin lewis' coaching career in Cincy'.
Jets stay close to New England but crash on approach to the runway as Farve although game shows that it takes more than one legend to defeat the mighty although weakened Patriot machine...
New Orleans Saints march into Washington hoping to go 2-0 but have their prayers scalped by a Washington team that still must have their fans scratchin' their heads as to how good or how bad they really are...
Pittsburg outlast a pathetic looking Browns team in one of the worst played games I have seen in a long time...
Eagles and Cowboys in a shootout on Monday nite but mistakes in the late stages of the game ground the Birds and allow the Cowboys to hogtie 1st place in NFC east along with the Giants...

That was some good insight on the games as we lost power here in SW Ohio from 70+ mph winds from IKE about halftime of the early games.
From the highlights I seen of the PITT/CLEV game they was getting those winds that night we got that day so I believe the wind had ALOT to do with it. And I seen on ESPN they were discussing the problems the winds caused. But hey we are 2-0 & I will take em ugly or pretty.

Yea I am a little concerned also, they are saying it is sprained, I don't know how serious that is, but he is pretty tuff. But if he isn't healthy or is out I can't hardly see us getting out of Philly with a win, as Big Ben is too important to the Offense.
If we lose Ben we drop down to Byron Leftwich & I am dreading that ever happening. I had alot of confidence in Charlie Batch as a backup, but Leftwich? I hope I never find out.

Should be interesting. The Giants barely getting by Cinci yesterday shows that in the NFL anything can happen on any given Sunday. Not to mention the Dolphins and the Patriots. If the Cowboys play like they are capable of playing then it shouldn't be much of a contest but that's why they play the game on the field and not on paper. :yippee:

When NFC East teams play each other, the best team doesn't always win. In fact, usually the team that wants it more badder wins.
Green bay will be around for the playoffs this year, Rogers will be a good QB with more experience, he has a good team around him. You could tell by yesterday's game that the Cowboys are a few notches above the Packers, but their North division is wide open for whom ever wants to take it more, I believe the Pack can hang with the Bears and Vikings.
The NFC East is always a tough division no matter who's predicted to win it all, it's never a shoe in to win a game within the conference, the skins will be tough next Sunday as will the rest of the conference games.
I couldn't believe how the Patriot defense gave up so many points, one could say that the time of possession was in favor of the Dolphins, but it was only a 5 minute difference.
The NFL Sunday Ticket has been a keeper this year with so many close and come from behind games, it's nice not to miss any action.

Redskin fan since 1972. Looking forward to the rivalry game this Sunday. I know the odds are against us (especially since the game is at Dallas), but the Skins have a good pass defense this year and hopefully that will help slow down the Cowboys high-octane offense a little.
The NFC East looks scary good this year. If the Redskins play like they have, the NFC East teams won't be losing many games to teams outside their division. It's very possible that it will set a division record for W-L percentage.
Sunday Ticket is a great thing to have, especially the RZC HD.

The skins are looking real good this year their QB is growing up and maturing..I've always look forward to watching NFC East division games no matter which pair is playing on a given Sunday, you know you're going to watch a good football game. It's a division that's compeitive year in and year out. All 4 teams just gun at one another, it's great division.

The 9ers are in the right division to take it this year, it's weak division, but it's still the strongest survive. My brother is long time 9er fan and he drinks beer when he thinks the 9ers look good, even after only 3 games...keep your hopes up 9er fans. Good luck this season mytime.

FINALLY!!!
I am not much of a Lions fan, but they have players I like such as Kitna, Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams & I liked Kevin Jones who was gotten rid of this year.
But it bugged me to no end that they were not smart enuff to realize they had changed EVERYTHING about that team except for one thing & it had got no better even to the point of having the worst winning pct. over the last 7 years.
But they finally fired that idiot Matt Millen who has been absolutely the worst guy I have ver seen in my lifetime at running an NFL team that is not an owner. I always said Millen must have something hanging over old man Ford's head to keep that job. If they hire a decent guy this team could do very well soon I believe. If I was Ford I would offer Bill Cowher a contract to run the team like Millen did as I believe he could really turn that around, but whoever I hired I would let him know he doesn't have 7 years to figure it out.
I think it is a good day for football when a guy like Millen is removed from ruining a franchise. Too bad the team about 6 hours south can't do the same thing, problem there is the owner runs the show as he thinks he is as smart as his dad was.

T.O. is behaving and seems to have grown up.....here's an article from the paper...
You can say what you want about Terrell Owens (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3664/), the occasionally petulant receiver who whines — like they all do — when he doesn't get enough passes thrown his way. No one, though, has ever questioned his effort or intensity. Not Jeff Garcia (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4924/). Not Andy Reid. Not Donovan McNabb (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4650/). And very unlike Randy Moss (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4262/), whose inconsistent effort is among the reasons Minnesota and Oakland got rid of the game's best receiver.
That's why it's hard to figure out why so many fans seem shocked at T.O.'s hustle in the Cowboys' 27-16 win over Green Bay the other day, wrote Dallas Morning News columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor. Some fans were incredulous that T.O. sprinted nearly 55 yards down the sideline shielding Felix Jones (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8799/) from defenders on the rookie's 60-yard touchdown run. Others seemed more amazed that T.O. chased Green Bay safety Nick Collins (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7227/) 54 yards - after someone knocked him on his butt — following Tony Romo (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6624/)'s end zone interception.
"I don't do it for show. I do it because that's part of my job. I've always been labeled as a good blocker," he said Tuesday. "This isn't the first time I've kind of escorted some guys to the end zone. I want people to say that Terrell was one of the greatest athletes to ever put on the Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/dal/) uniform. I think I'm on my way, and I think I'm doing those necessary things."
T.O. will always be T.O. and even when he was a 9er or an Eagle, I never had any dislike for him......I agree that Randy Moss was over board, but seems like he has grown up also..with the Pats.....My biggest issue is not the ball players coming up now days it's the franchises that give them too much money too soon and it goes to their heads......I doubt that will ever change....

Congrats to the Redskins on a very good win! I think the Redskins played lights out and the Cowboys realized that they can't just show up and roll over opponents. Zorn has something going on in D.C. that will be scary for the rest of the league.
I think my 'boys will regroup and have a solid year but for now hats off to the 'skins. Hopefully we can figure out how to sharpen our defense. I guess the problem wasn't completely Roy Williams after all.

Thanks, it was a tight game, but maybe the loss will do the 'Boys more good than a win would have. There's a lot of pressure being undefeated and being America's team. I'm very happy at the poise and performance of Jason Campbell this year, he hasn't thrown an INT yet, I don't think.
Very odd the Dallas play calling, why didn't they try to run the ball more? The Skins run defense has been mediocre while their pass defense has been top notch, and yet Dallas felt they could go against that and just do whatever they wanted. I think the 47-11 pass-run ratio illustrated that maybe Dallas was perhaps a little overconfident. In any case, the NFC is a gauntlet division now with all 4 teams as good as they have shown themselves to be so far. I can see the last place team going 11-5 or at least 10-6.

I couldn't agree more. It was tough going in the beginning trying to run the ball, but that's not unusual. Marion Barber wears defenses down. Plus, where was Felix Jones? I don't recall him having a single carry.

They were throwing to TO a lot in the game, so undoubtedly they were trying to get him involved in the offense more as last week he had only two catches. So maybe by trying to make TO happy they neglected their running game.

TO wasn't to happy after the game saying the Cowboys need to get him the ball. They said on the Sunday night pregame that 1/3 of the plays went to TO. Not sure how much more involved he needs to be, I thought the Skins done a good job against him. Jason Garrett had a very different game plan on Sunday or he saw the few Barber run attempts didn't get much so he called pass plays to open up the run, that never materialized....big question, why didn't the boys double cover Moss?, he always has a good game against the cowboys, win or lose he has his numbers..

He might try doing something simple, like say, oh I don't know, getting open once in a f-ing while. Shawn Springs owned him and was tight enough to sodomize T.O. for most of the game. T.O. then quits early on routes. Some performance by "one of the best WR's ever." Memo to the rest of the league: Have your best corner play physical with T.O. at the line of schrimmage. You'll own him after that.
We will destroy Dallas, the Skins, & all the rest....as long as you don't rush our passer;)
Steeler fans can get as excited as they want but we are not going nowhere until something that resembles an Offensive Line is put in front of Big Ben. It is ridiculous the pressure Ben is under EVERY pass play. And now we lost a Starting Guard, & all of our RB's but one, it is gonna be a dissappointing season when you put those things together with the fact Tomlin has no buisness being a HC in the NFL.
We get to play Cincy, Cleveland, & Baltimore again so we are definitely good for three more wins & after that I will cross my fingers.
My thoughts after 1/4 of the season...
I would have still said Dallas had the best team even though the Skins looked solid in beating them, but TO is doing a good job of flushing thier season down the toilet, wich is his mouth by the way.
Redskins will be tough all the way I think as long as Campbell just stays within himself & doesn't try to do too much.
The Bears are a fluke.
I do kinda like the Bills, the jury is still out on Edwards though I think. But imo the best team in the NFL is the San Diego Chargers. Rivers has really come out this season on fire & LT hasn't even kicked it into high gear yet. They are just gonna get better & better.
Right now at this moment I would pick a Chargers/Redskins Super Bowl.

The Vikings still have a chance. We gave Tennessee a game. Yup, shot ourselves in all three feets. Both of our non-quarterback quarterbacks will give way to Booty (he can throw a ball) and of course our defense will rule the North. Once we figure out that Adrian can run pretty good out in the open, Booty will get him the ball and we just might score a touchdown or two. Ziggy aint Ziggy without being Ziggy and Ziggy wants a championship team even if he has to outspend Dallas to buy one.

Well I was not a bit suprised that the Browns won that game tonight. They were a solid team before the season started & just couldn't handle the pressure of having all the hype they had as alot of people were predicting a big season from them.
I think tonight's game was probably a do or die for Cleveland as they knew a loss would pretty much end their playoff hopes but a win puts them right back in it & beating the SB Champ Giants surely boosted thier confidence. I only watched the game on CBS's Gamecenter but it looked as though the Anderseon to Edwards connection was back in ful force with just enuff Jamal Lewis to keep the Giants honest.

Well we have another terrible NFL Thanksgiving Day games coming up due to the stupid Detroit/Dallas tradition.
Tennesse/Detroit, Seattle/Dallas, & then NFL network has a halfway decent game with Philly/Arizona.
I think if there was ever a year that speaks volumes that we need to can the Dallas & Detroit every single year tradition it is this one. We start with the sorriest team in the NFL, Detroit, as they usually are a non factor by this time every year playing a solid Titans team & will be a blowout probably. Then when half of the USA are asleep in a recliner Dallas will play Seattle who is almost as bad as Detroit.
I think they should take the final four from the previous season & let them have the two games. I mean how great would it be to get to watch Green Bay verses the Giants & New England play San Diego. Even though I am not a fan of any of those teams it would make for two good games imo.

Well I gotta say my Steelers are starting to impress me a little bit, even coach Tomlin is, & that is big for me to say anything good about him.
I know the Pats aren't very good this year but we did put a whippin on them on thier field & that is mostly what I mean when I say I am impressed is the job that defense is doing. I give Tomlin credit for stepping aside & letting Lebeau run that defense wich he is a master of.
The other thing that impresses me is we have a running game kinda like Denver use to have in wich you can put anybody back there & they are gonna pile up yardage. And when you got great defense & a solid running game you can win the Super Bowl.
The only thing Tomlin did that ticks me off is he gave the Giants that game as we had them beat for sure & he puts Harrison in to long snap when there was a back up snapper on the bench. A snap wich went bad for PITT & gave the Giants a gift. I never heard the explanation of why Harrison got the call there.
But I am happy with PITT as they have shown they are able to handle any team wich is something I wouldn't have said about them a month ago as I was picking SD/Washington for the Super Bowl then but now I am picking PITT/Giants to play in the SB.
San diego is being held back by the mediocre play of LT. I say he is injured more than he is telling. But if he breaks out of his season long slump they will be hard to beat, but it's now or never.
Good Luck to everybody's teams:hithere:

Well I cannot believe the Steelers brought an outsider in who was never nothing more than a defensive backs coach in college & for Tampa Bay, when they had a GREAT canidate on Cowhers staff in Ken Whisenhut, Offensive coordinator & also Russ Grimm the Offensive Line coach would have been a solid pick from the inside. Look what Whisenhut, who also brought Grimm with him, has already done with a pothetic Arizona team.
I hear people say they hired Cowher & he was a nobody...but...he was a defensive coordinator under Schottenhiemer. I mean really, why would you hire a guy who was on nobody's radar & never been a coordinator but yet he is now head man for one of the greatest orginazations in the NFL.
He let Eric Mangini outcoach him soooo bad last year it was embarrassing when the Jets were like 1-8. But he seems to be coming around & I do like him a bit more now, I guess more than anything it was hard to lose Cowher & go to an absolute nobody, but I got over losing the greatest coach ever in Chuck Noll so I guess I'll get over losing the 2nd greatest ever in the NFL in Bill Cowher also:D
I hope Tomlin becomes a great one also.

I'm a little surprised to see Dallas blow that lead, but only a little. It's becoming clear that Romo is a choker in big games and he needs to get that monkey off his back somehow. However I've got nothing to be happy about as the Redskins' season is just about over. :(

Gotta say I was suprised Pitt came out on top. What sucks for me is I decided to lay down in the third quarter & watch the rest. So when Tomilin, like a pure idiot, went for it on 4th down trailing by 10 I was so frustrated I decided heck with it & dozed off. When I woke up there was about a half a minute left & I had to strain my eyes a few times to make sure I was seeing the score right:lol:
We may have won but I don't understand why Tomlin went for that 4th down(I didn't like the call before the outcome of the play) He was at home & a FG makes it a one score game. I know the offense was seriously struggling but still I just didn't get it.:what:
Hate that I missed the comeback, but from the talk it sounded like PITT's D wouldn't give up on that game & that is what's great about Pittsburgh I think. as they seem to find a way to win & we sure needed it as I was shocked Baltimore beat Washington.

How about the Carolina Panthers Monday nite. They looked like they could beat anybody with that Delhomme to Smith connection, a beast of a running game & an pretty solid looking Defense.
I never realized they were this good, as I could see them making it all the way.

Delhomme is waaaaaaaaaay too inconsistent (this year) to be counted on in the playoffs.

With no Tom Brady in the playoffs & Peyton Manning looking a bit inconsistent even during their 6 game win streak I think Delhomme gives Carolina as good of chance as anyone. And having the great Steve Smith makes him dangerous.
There is only one QB that has been tuff every week here lately & that is Drew Brees
Here's some of the probable playoff QB's...
eli manning, favre, roethlisberger, cutler, cassell, romo, Mcnabb to name a few & their just isn't a QB who is playing consistently solid out their right now.
I was just thinking yesterday that there will not be one QB taken in the first round of most fantasy drafts next year. I know if I had to draft my team for next year today I wouldn't even consider a QB other than Drew Brees until the 3rd round.

Even though I care nothing about the Bears or Saints I am very happy to see the Bears pulled this out in OT cause that was the worst non-call I have seen in a long time in the NFL when that Saints DB practically tackled Greg Olsen in the end zone. It would have been a TD without the interference imo. But should have been called & placed on the 1 yard line.

We Philly fans are becomming quite acustom to the mediocre as during this stage of the Doofovan Mcnabb/Andy Reid era 8-8 seems to be what we strive to achieve...........case in point scoring 3 points in a huge game to bolster your chances of making the playoffs ....Great job Andy!..nice game plan and way to rise to the occasion Mcnabb, nice effort! Lets see if we can put forth a better effort against the Cowboys in what will most likely be Brian Dawkins last game as an Eagle......

Do you think it could be the final game in Philly for McNabb and/or Reid?
After the Cincinnati game & his benching I thought McNabb would sure be gone to a team like Minnesota this summer. But then he had those 2 big games & now a stinker in a game they really needed & should have won. So now I have no idea myself.

Philly fans are fucking stupid. They constantly bitch about McNabb and the man is a freaking beast. I am a huge cowboy fan so I have had to follow his career since he is in our divison and the dude deserve's more credit just like Westbrook is finally getting. He may not have a ring but he gives you a chance just about every damn year and who the hell has he had except for Westbrook? After Iverson and the bitching about McNabb dumbass philly fan never deserve's to win again. How many fans of other teams would love to have that much success.
As for the Cowboys being a huge fan I am glad it happened this way. Yeah I wanted them to make the playoff's and win the SB but with the way they have played if they weren't going to win I wanted them to get blown the hell out. No freaking excuse's now. Phillip's is to damn soft and the locker room is full of bitches. Aside from who Parcell's brought in (Ware,Witten,Brady James,Barber) they have no heart. You need a WR and you bring in a Detroit wash out. Tery Glenn was better than any of these bastard's including TO. I love the fact Jerry Jones wants to win and will try and do whatever it takes but he needs someone to pick the damn players. You know phillips isnt saying crap about who is brought in just praying he wins. They need someone with nuts to run the show and get these weak fucks to play and not quit. Also to stop leading the league in penaltys. They have the talent but no drive, discipline, or heart. They need to trade half of the damn team away but the only idiots to take what we got would be the redskins or raiders.(common theme there huh?) He's in there for his marginal passing and his team play. However, I agree that he shouldn't be starting and I want to see Odom in there getting his 38 minutes.
It looks like we're going to have an 8-8 team hosting a playoff game next week, while the 11-5 Patriots sit home and wait until next year. That's sick.

As for the Pats, what can anyone say really? All key players out for the season and just barely missing the playoffs with an 11-5 record, fine with me. No one in the division has the Pats number quite yet. They haven't proved anything in my eyes, other than being improved.

I don't think that's ever happened before, having a team win three more games than a playoff bound team in the same conference (for that matter, in either conference), and miss the playoffs. In basketball, the equivalent would be to have a .500 team make the playoffs while a 53-29 team sits.

Yeah, it's pretty bogus but the Dolphins only got in over the Pats because of the Tiebreaker rule. They both finished the season with the same exact record in reality.
The Pats are actually the 2nd team in history to miss the playoffs with an 11-5 record. The 1942 Browns encountered the same fate.
Whatever, I won't dwell on any of that. Once Brady fell and shortly after the rest of team fell like dominoes injury wise, I don't think anyone expected what they accomplished this year. All in all, it was a strange season from the very beginning to the very... end. Literally! :)

We finished 11-5 and we're going to be golfing while two other teams at 9-7 and 8-8 are going to be competing in the postseason. I find that highly disturbing. Probably more disturbing than the BCS.
Though, one thing that is just as good as making the playoffs is seeing the Jets, who were 8-3 at one point, choked big time down the stretch and lost their final game against Pennington, at home to boot. That is EPIC. And LOL @ every person who said they were Superbowl bound.

Don't know if he would of ''saved them'' but I can guarantee you Kellen Clemens would of done a much better job than Favre. Brett didn't deserve to be on an NFL field this season. 22 INTs? Jesus, that's just pathetic. If the Miami game was his last, i'm glad his career ended in shambles.
And Thomas Jones had a pretty good season. Had 1,312 yards and 13 TDs. Hence why he's going to the Pro Bowl.

Well they must let almost anyone in the Pro Bowl then. The guy has 1300+ yds & 13 TD's scoring in only 9 games.
He started out so bad the first three games he lost his starting job 2/3 weeks. And in December when it counted the most, when they were struggling in the end he deserved a benching as much as anyone rushing for 56/78/67/23 yards each game with 2 TD's. He had a good run against some very sorry teams in mid season but otherwise he sucks. Believe me I know he was my #2 RB on my main fantasy football team.

Still be lurking, and celebrating the Colts loss. The Chargers showed some big cajones last night and the Colts melted rather ugly in OT.
As for our Vikes, it will be a battle today. The eagles have a tough run defense but are daggy in the defensive secondary. If the Vikes want to win they will have to do it with Berrian and Shiancoe. The eagles will of course, be keying on Peterson so the run game will be negated. Me best hope is that Ferotte and Jackson get dumped in the 1st quarter and JD Booty takes them to the Superbowl. But with a superstar like Westbrook on the field the Eagles have as good as chance as anybody I guess.
If anybody deserved to lose it was the Vikings. They have a great defense & a superstar in Peterson but they cheaped out on the QB position & you can't expect to win anything with guys like Jackson & Ferrotte running your offense. They are the team that needs Matt Cassell from New England. Or really about anybody is better than what they got. If they got a decent QB I think they would be Super Bowl bound.

Yea I knew they were supposed to be tagging him, but I think somebody will give up the 2 draft picks or whatever it is you have to do to get a franchise player away from his team.
And I just think if the Vikings had him & kept everything else in tact with the addition of a good WR they would be a very hard team to beat imo.

I really am interested to see Cassel in another system... something is just telling me that he won't have near the success in a different system than the Pats spread offense. Think any team has to take McDaniels with him in a package deal to make this work. Otherwise, we might be looking at Scott Mitchell/Jeff Garcia all over again.
