HD65 squeeze/zoom feature?

I read all the specs from various websites and reviews and I still can't find this anywhere.

Right now I'm selling my Epson Powerlite Home 10+. On the remote it has the "aspect" button. Rather than some projectors which change the 4:3 or 16:9 aspect, it allowed one to choose formats from: Zoom, normal, or squeeze.

When I looked up the information under "zoom" for the HD65 it just talks about its zoom 1.10x option. Instead of that I'm wanting to know if this projector has the feature to "squeeze" formats which are 4:3 to a 16:9.

A quick example would be from my Epson Powerlite Home 10+ I would play The Simpsons dvds. It is in a 4:3 format. However when I select "aspect" on my remote it would change through and I would select "squeeze." Which made it a 16:9 format & still proportional. The "zoom" option made it 16:9 as well but it was stretched too much so one couldn't see the edges of the video. Normal brought it back to 4:3.

Sorry I've only had 2 projectors and I know this Home 10+ had that feature. I'm just wondering if the Optoma HD65 has this feature to switch from 4:3 and stretch it to 16:9 and fill up my entire screen (no loss of image size then)? Thanks so much, I'm new to this. I'll most likely be buying the HD65 next week.

Hi there,
here is a link to projectorcentral with 8 reviews. At least one talks about letterbox format and cut-offs. http://www.projectorcentral.com/Optoma-HD65-user-reviews.htm
I would think all projectors will have to show 4:3 with bars on the side and some form of stretching to fill the screen for the new 16:9 format.
Here is the HD65 Optoma webpage, where you can download the user manual:http://www.optomausa.com/Product_detail.asp?productsubcat=3&productcategory=Home+Theater&product_id=341
That should give you the details.

Thanks for your response. I checked all reviews from the projectorcentral link and I didn't find anyone talking about what I wanted to figureout. One just said it has a 4:3 and 16:9 change, not a "squeeze or zoom" feature that I would like.

As for the other link the user brochure/manual is not downloadable? It wont let me click on that.

Anyone else who knows please help. Thanks

It downloaded to my computer, but it takes some time as it is a 51 page PDF file of 21 MB file size.

On page it 28 it shows the 4:3 format with still area on the left and right (because its 16:9 standard).

Just wondering does the LBX format correct the 4:3 to fill the entire screen?

Thanks

I did not really look at the manual, but you might want to give Optoma a call, if the manual is not clear and nobody else here has an answer. I assume LBX stands for letterbox, which is more like 2.35:1 and gives you horizontal black blocks.
But you should look also at the source (DVD or cable/satellite box). They also allow you to set the output format. (I personally prefer the bars over the streched faces/bodies, so it's not an issue for me)

Hope this helps
