Be careful what descriptors you use. Clemson lost to a good team. If you use the lowest term, what's left for Texas A&M losing to Arkansas St.?
SOBAY310 09-02-2008, 04:53 PM SC back at #1! :yippee:
11 days until the Buckeyes come to Los Angeles.
It will actually be Ohio State's first game of the season, right? I mean, playing against High School teams shouldn't really count.
Wareagle34 09-02-2008, 09:52 PM Not sre why UGA fell a spot, but oh well the polls have never made much since. I think next time they better leave their starters in and run the score up to 100 if needed. Granted they were playing Ga. Southern but they still have the toughest schedule in the country, shouldn't they get a break.

borromini 09-03-2008, 01:48 AM Clemson looked like pure shit this weekend, huh?Clemson's lost could spell the end for Tommy Bowden just as Pitt's lost could be the clincher for dumping Wannstedt. Meanwhile, Rick Neuheisel's stock just shot up with UCLA's surprise upset.
The season has gotten off to a good start as far as unpredictability.
eck979 09-03-2008, 09:38 AM I really wish the best for PITT this year. McCoy is a local kid that graduated from where I live.
Clemson was supposed to be a juggernaut this year and they fell flat on their faces.
USC is number one because they blew out a decent team on the road while OSU and UGA won against FCS schools at home.
drbrosco 09-03-2008, 10:37 AM I think Clemson is not that bad. I think it was more of a testament to why Bama paid Saban millions to come there as he seems to be whipping Bama back into shape quickly.
I look for them to be a title contender in another year or two.

Yea let's be nice to Sobay this week as he only has a few more days of that "undefeated" feeling left & then his joy of hoping for a BCS title game is over Saturday nite & then he will finally have a Buckeye avatar that somebody respects. I figure to be playing Xbox by halftime as OSU will have the game in hand as they are playing an overrated team in USC who is drooling all over theirselves because they beat the "mighty" Virginia Cavaliers. They should have scheduled DUKE last weekend, then they could have said we have beat TWO ACC teams:lol::lol::lol:
Good Luck Sobay, you & your trojans are gonna need it...BAD;)

As much as I'd like to see Ohio State get some much needed vindication for the last two NC games, I could really seen them losing this game by 3 touchdowns. I hope I'm wrong.
robox4 09-09-2008, 10:12 AM Question for Wareagle: I didn't get a chance to catch any of the Auburn game against Southern Miss. How did Ben Tate look? I'm from Maryland and was forunate enough to see him play a few times in High School. He looked like he had the tools to be special.

You have to understand that SC consistently schedules good non-conference teams. Last year Virginia won 9 games. The other non conference games this year? Ohio State and Notre Dame. It's not SC's fault that these teams turn into crap by the time we play them.
Last year they scheduled Nebraska. The year before that it was Arkansas and Nebraska. The year before that it was Hawaii, Arkansas, and Fresno State.
Pete doesn't schedule cupcakes. Unless you count Idaho last year.

If it were truly all about helping out other schools from Ohio, the Buckeyes would schedule Cincinnati on a regular basis. I think we all know why they don't. It would really take some balls, since that's a no win situation.

He had 80+ yards and a score, but with Auburn, like most years, they have 4 backs that are good enough to start. Lester, Fannin and Smith. All had carries in both games, with Lester and Tate getting the bulk of the work. They all looked a little lazy against S. Miss though, we had like 4 fumbles, 2 in the redzone.
I think Tate will really show up against the tougher teams, he is the best of the 4.

Yes I get ABC on my TV wich is thru Directv. But when I go to espn360 & click to get details it automatically detects that I have roadrunner & says that will not work & has a box with 3 other ISP's & says "you can gladly switch to one of these today". The three are Verizon, AT&T, & I have never heard of the other one.

Because I am seriously hooked on COD4 again cause we put our old clan back together about a month ago & Saturday is our main night since the working guys are off Sundays. That doesn't surprise me at all. Just like NFL players that say they'll be in the line-up the next week after suffering a high ankle sprain. The always say it and they never are. When I say the way that kid went down and hobbled off, I figured it would be at least a few weeks before he was playing again.

Yea that sucks, I have the ESPN Toolbar installed so I had seen it & just think oh well that is football & it won't help none losing the best RB in the country, but will be no excuse if we lose. I think if there is a player that USC is gotta worry about it is Terrell Pryor who is considered the best freshman to come out of college in a few years. I am thinking Tressell will use him like Pitt used to use Kordell Stewart as SLASH. At least I am hoping for this to happen.
EDIT: One more thing, Tressell could be trying to throw Carroll a curveball since Tressell seemed to be so sure Wells was playing two days ago.

SOBAY310 09-12-2008, 10:56 AM Beanie will be starting. Tessell is not a very good poker player. :p
Wareagle34 09-12-2008, 11:46 AM I I don't think it will matter. I think USC will win by atleast 10pts. But I will be watching some of this game, Auburn plays at 7pm EST, so I'll be giving the remote a workout. I do hope it's a good game.
drbrosco 09-12-2008, 03:30 PM I will make a prediction.
First of all I put no stock in the games these two teams have played so far. USC played a mediocre college team & OSU played basicaly 2 high school teams. Tressell & Carrol are not stupid, they both know not to give anything away in those games.
The Buckeyes clearly have the best player on the field on both sides of the ball. RB Chris Wells & LB James Laurinaitis, & yes I am a Buckeye fan, but those two player are the best.
The Trojans do have a great backfield as they are able to throw a fresh RB at you from beginning to end & that is huge if the game is tight late. I love how they have no set way with those RB's, when Pete says go...you go!
Before I read anything about USC or really studied what OSU has back this year I would have predicted a shootout.
But it looks as though USC has realoaded in the secondary & should do a decent job against OSU's passing game. And USC has a couple of tuff linebackers Who will both need to step up.
But this game, barring dumb turnovers & silly mistakes, will come down to the play of the Offensive & Defensive lines & it is no secret OSU is head & shoulders above the competition here as USC lost alot of good line players from last year & OSU is almost all back.
If OSU goes in there & is not 100% on thier "A" game & makes early mistakes you may as well watch something else as USC will blow them out. But if OSU can avoid the dumb stuff early & handle that hostile crowd we will see the Beanie Wells show with a nice amount of Terrell Pryor & the final score is OSU 24 USC 20.
If there is any good for the loser of this game it is losing early as that help in the stupid BCS system we have. So the loser is not done.

Hey dude, your Baylor Bears may put together a good team before my Aggies will again!
drbrosco 09-12-2008, 09:11 PM Chris "Beanie" Wells is positively OUT for the game
New prediction...
I will be shocked if OSU can go there & pull it off now as taking Wells from the team is like taking LT from the Chargers. We still have a great team & will put up a fight but I guess us OSU fans are gonna find out how good of a passing game we have. So I predict OSU 14- USC 13....we win on a blocked xtra point with time running out:D;)
Good Luck to everyone's team tomorrow & have a great day!:hithere:

SOBAY310 09-13-2008, 11:42 AM I still think Wells is going to start.
Anyways, the day has finally arrived Brosco!! Here we go!! :yippee:
Wareagle34 09-13-2008, 11:57 AM I hope this does turn out to be a good game. The build up to it has been like a Championship game, even on this site. It's Sobay vs Brosco. Or even better the "High Def Showdown".
jpfrasier 09-13-2008, 12:20 PM I think I might be pulling for Ohio State but I think USC will win and fairly big. 10 points or more. Let's face it, Ohio State has not played well on the biggest stage in the last couple of years. Namely the championship games, which this game is as close to a championship game can be for the regular season.
pappylap 09-13-2008, 08:18 PM officials appear to be attempting to keep the game close as they are throwing penalty flags against USC at every opportunity......come on refs if OSU cant stay on the field with USC then let it be a blow-out ......Geeeeeze
I humbly stand corrected as back to back holding penalties cost the Buckeyes a TD
drbrosco 09-13-2008, 08:45 PM Well that is enuff to send me to xbox playing some cod4.:(
I would have been shocked to see OSU come back after making such a great drive just to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties. And the INT for a TD just finished us off probably. You just cannot go into a place like that against a team like USC & make dumb mistakes & think ou can get away with it. Hopefully they will come back, but this Buckeye fan won't be holding his breath.
Now Boeckman has showed OSU people his true colors, we was all forgiving last year but not this year. I'd say unless Tressell wants to be destroyed by the fans & local media that Terrell Pryor will be QB very soon.
SOBAY310 09-13-2008, 10:36 PM Fight On For 'ol Sc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Baby!!!!!
drbrosco 09-13-2008, 10:59 PM Well great game to USC, & you Sobay!
It would not have mattered wether Wells played either, we could have had Robert Smith back there again & still got whipped.. I hope you run the table & get to the title game.....and lose;)
It sucks we lost but what really sucks is the fans that matter(boosters with big $$$) don't care as long as we beat Michigan & as sweet as it is to beat Michigan it is time to quit treating Tressell like a college football genius cause he won a title his second year & whips Michigan all the time...he needs to have some pressure put on him now.
As much as I love to see OSU win I really hope they dom't win the rest of their games & fall into the title game again as they do not deserve it.
Enuff about OSU's woes, USC looked great & again...GREAT GAME SOBAY!
Wareagle34 09-14-2008, 03:47 AM What we learned this week...
1. USC is clearly ahead of everyone else.
2. Oklahoma should move up to second.
3. UGA needs to pick it up or Florida and LSU will be jumping them.
4. Ohio St. is still struggling against speedy teams.
5. Auburn is clearly overrated right now. This stupid spread offense they are using is pathetic. If Bo Jacskon was watching that game he had to be shaking his head. I can't believe that my team has forgotten who they are. I've been an Auburn fan since 82 and we have always been a run first team who pounds the ball with the stock of RB's we have. Know we look like a generic Div. III offense. If Auburn stays in the top 15 after that win, then clearly somebody wasn't paying attention. The only thing about Auburn that looks normal is that our defense is still very fast and very physical, and our helmets look the same. LSU comes to town next week......OMG!!:crying:
borromini 09-14-2008, 10:09 AM ...now we look like a generic Div. III offense...What does that look like? There are some very good offensive teams in Div III. I thought it just simply looked like a team adapting to a new offensive scheme. Did you expect them to perfect the spread in less than a season? You're lucky that your defense is as good as it is. Otherwise you'd be looking like Michigan. :)
borromini 09-14-2008, 10:12 AM ...As much as I love to see OSU win I really hope they dom't win the rest of their games & fall into the title game again as they do not deserve it...Don't worry, even if they win the rest of their games they don't have a chance now at the title game. Not after that whooping. There will likely be several other one-loss teams that will get the nod first before OSU.
borromini 09-14-2008, 10:17 AM What we learned this week...In addition to your list, we also learned
that Cal, UCLA and Arizona St. were pretenders
Fresno St. will be able to hang with the big boys this year...barely
Steve Spurrier will lose more hair before the season is over
UGA won't go undefeated
ND will win more than 3 games this yearSo far an exciting season with a lot more unfolding to occur.
Wareagle34 09-14-2008, 11:00 AM What does that look like? There are some very good offensive teams in Div III. I thought it just simply looked like a team adapting to a new offensive scheme. Did you expect them to perfect the spread in less than a season? You're lucky that your defense is as good as it is. Otherwise you'd be looking like Michigan. :)
By generic I mean a small college like we have here that runs the wing T, the same as a lot of the local high schools. I realize that it is still new, but after 3 games this year and the bowl last, they should be progressing towards something. It has gotten worse each game that goes by. The biggest worry was all the penalties on the offensive line. Almost every drive ended because of false starts and holding. I think our O-line was very confused. I do give Miss. State credit though they came in with a lot of hype about how good their D was, and I thought they showed it.
drbrosco 09-14-2008, 11:00 AM Don't worry, even if they win the rest of their games they don't have a chance now at the title game. Not after that whooping. There will likely be several other one-loss teams that will get the nod first before OSU.
After what a joke the BCS was last year you could never say a team who could have one loss & win the BIG 10 not get in even if they did get whooped last night. LSU, even though they won it last year should have NEVER been in there. Remember the voters jumped about 4-5 spots just so Georgia, who was the hottest team in football at the time, could not play in it..... WHY?....because Georgia vs. OSU would never had made the money of LSU vs. OSU.
Anybody with one loss has a great shot. Again, I hope OSU doesn't get it even if they win 77-0 every single game on out.
Wareagle34 09-14-2008, 11:08 AM In addition to your list, we also learned

Good adds to the list. I kinda got on a rant when I got to Auburn and lost focus. It does look like USC is gonna have an easy road if the teams in the Pac 10 you mentioned are pretenders. I thought maybe one of them would give them a good challenge, but it is still a young season.
How bad does Tennessee have to feel after seeing UCLA get beat down by BYU.:(

Wareagle34 09-14-2008, 07:09 PM That's not the poll I saw. It had Bama in #9 and Auburn #10. 50% SEC.
borromini 09-14-2008, 09:33 PM ...Remember the voters jumped about 4-5 spots just so Georgia, who was the hottest team in football at the time, could not play in it..... WHY?....because Georgia vs. OSU would never had made the money of LSU vs. OSU...I don't believe that's the reason. I believe it was due to the fact that LSU won the SEC championship game which Georgia didn't even reach and that's an important aspect of the BCS formula however flawed it may be.
drbrosco 09-15-2008, 07:24 AM Brosco, that avatar is beautiful. :hithere:

Correct...the Coaches poll.
borromini 09-15-2008, 11:48 PM I tend to follow the AP poll rather than the coaches poll. Most of the coaches that vote stick with their league when casting ballots.
18 is # 1 09-15-2008, 11:56 PM I tend to follow the AP poll rather than the coaches poll. Most of the coaches that vote stick with their league when casting ballots.
But what about when they begin casting stones?
Wareagle34 09-16-2008, 07:32 AM I don't put much in either poll, but I do think the AP is more of an accurate poll. You show me one coach that has time in his schedule to sit down and watch anyone play besides his team and the team they are preparing to play and I bet that same coach has a loosing record.
drbrosco 09-16-2008, 11:34 PM Well Ohio St. is at least making a VERY GOOD move to try to finish out the season with some dignity. As only winning out will do.
But the QB job is open & I am sure Terrell Pryor wii win it. From everything I read about him when they were trying to sign him & then did sign him I figured he is gonna be a awesome player. A guy I know that always goes to the OSU spring game said Pryor was the first player ever to get a standing ovation when he walked on the field.
I wished Pryor had started the season & had the games under his belt before the USC game...not at all saying we would have won...but it would have been great to see Pryor start that game.
Hopefully Pryor will win the spot & Wells will heal up, and we can play in the Rose Bowl & maybe play UCLA, I think we could beat them:D
borromini 09-17-2008, 06:51 AM But what about when they begin casting stones? They're football coaches...the stones will just bounce off their heads with a mild thud.
borromini 09-17-2008, 06:56 AM ...Hopefully Pryor will win the spot & Wells will heal up, and we can play in the Rose Bowl & maybe play UCLA, I think we could beat them:DWith USC a near lock on going to the title game, I hear the Rose Bowl is considering an invitation to BYU since they're the only other team in the West worthy of one. :)
Seriously...after last week, the Pac 10 is in sad shape.

drbrosco 09-20-2008, 06:44 AM I can't believe I am hearing people say Tenessee will beat Florida....NO WAY!....I think it is because Florida players have run thier mouth in the papers. I say Florida 45-28
18 is # 1 09-20-2008, 07:22 PM Big East wins 2 of 3 matchups in the past 3 days with Big 12 teams.
At least the K-State win was convincing. Not sure how happy UCon (favored by 12) was about beating Baylor by 3 points on their own field. Baylor has improved this year, but there was a lot of poor officiating that effected both teams.
borromini 09-21-2008, 08:11 AM I can't believe I am hearing people say Tenessee will beat Florida where are those people now? :)
Wareagle34 09-24-2008, 03:11 AM Here's and interesting question I heard on espn radio today.
If USC wins out along with UGA and OU, who deserves to play in the Champ game? I think the reason they ask is that USC doesn't have a ranked opponent left on their schedule ( of course this could change as the season goes on, but with the way the other Pac 10 teams have been playing I doubt it) and the only big win they will have is over OSU. IMO I think Fla. is going to be the team from the SEC that may go undefeated, but there schedule is not as tough as UGA. And I think (ok... hope) Auburn will upset UGA.
What do you guys think will happen, really intersested in what Sobay thinks since I know he is a die hard SC fan. Any OU or UGA fans here?
browndk26 09-24-2008, 09:42 PM Auburn will not beat Georgia. Florida could beat Georgia if we don't get our offense together. If Georgia and USC go undefeated they will be in the championship game.
SOBAY310 09-24-2008, 11:46 PM SC at Oregon St tomorrow night. 40% chance of rain up there dammit! We don't do good in wet weather!
borromini 09-25-2008, 12:50 AM ...If Georgia and USC go undefeated they will be in the championship game.If Oklahoma goes undefeated, there's not guarantee that Georgia will go to the champ game. Oklahoma has a better chance of finishing 12-0 than Georgia, IMO. My bet is USC vs. Oklahoma.

I would say if OU and UGA go undefeated then it should be them two in the champ game, based on strength of schedule. But I still think if anyone in the SEC goes undefeated it will be Fla.
drbrosco 09-25-2008, 06:42 AM I say Bama puts a loss on Georgia this week;)

drbrosco 09-25-2008, 11:45 PM Well here we go again this year.......USC beats BIG 10 favorite Ohio St easily....Penn St the third pick in the BIG 10 destroys Oregon St. by a score of 45-14.....& now Oregon St handles USC 27-21.
So it looks like another crazy season like last year has started & while it is fun to watch, again we will be dissappointed as there is no way to play it out after the regular season to have a true champ.
I also think Alabama is gonna throw a wrench in it saturday, as I think they will beat Georgia.
Good thing for Buckeyes & USC is they have lost early & even though it is ridiculous, the system may have them right back on top at the end of the season with that dumb BCS system.
borromini 09-26-2008, 12:20 AM This has got to be the all-time let-down performance ever by a CF team that had just won what was suppose to be their biggest game of the year. Oregon State lost to Stanford for crying out loud. Those Trojan kids have got to be hurtin' tonight. They probably won't be able to sleep!

What a prediction....seeing how two of them are playing each other:lol:
drbrosco 09-27-2008, 02:45 PM wow....the Hurricanes are in bad shape...I thought they would easily beat North Carolina since their starting QB broke his ankle last week & they were only average at best with him.
I am not downing the Canes as other than the year they played the Buckeyes for the title I always liked to root for them, I guess cause I lived there a short time in the late 80's. But I thought they were supposed to be getting this thing turned around down there & now they lose to an average team without their starting QB:confused::confused::confused:
Hopefully things will change soon.

I don't see how anyone could not vote Alabama #1 now as they are just rolling over everyone in thier way.
imo Saban is already earning some of that big contract he got, the guy is just a great college coach & I hope they fare well all season.
browndk26 09-27-2008, 10:53 PM Alabama looked really good and we didn't show up until the second half. Better to have lost to a Western division team. The season is still salvageable.
I was surprised that Alabama laid down after the first half. That would worry me if I was an Saban.
borromini 09-28-2008, 12:12 PM ...I don't see how anyone could not vote Alabama #1 now as they are just rolling over everyone in thier way...Oklahoma will be the consensus #1 as they too are rolling over everyone. The Red River shootout is going to be fun to watch this year.

Yeah I'm sure we will lose some recruits. But what worried me was that the tradition of great RBs at Auburn was going to end with the spread. I wasn't ever happy with them going to the spread offense, it just didn't feel like Auburn football.
SOBAY310 10-11-2008, 02:44 PM Wow! That Texas/Oklahoma game was one of the best I've seen in a long time! I feel bad for that Oklahoma guy (I think his name is Lewis) that got screwed on those two late hit penalties. Great acting by McCoy!
Wareagle34 10-11-2008, 04:01 PM It was a great game. Hopefully the polls do not punish OU too much for losing. I'm not sure what these people are doing when they vote. Auburn still being ranked in the top 25 seems pretty skeptical to me, as bad as their offense is.
SOBAY310 10-11-2008, 05:09 PM USC's offense looks horrible. We've had 4 straight turnovers and ASU still hasn't scored. I was enjoying watching Carpenter get knocked around. Other than that, I'm dozing off here! :zzz

Yeah, I know we suck. Going to the spread really hurt us, and now no one knows what's next. I think it will take 2-3 years to fully recover from this, with the recruits we had already signed to run the spread bailing out and we've got to look for guys to run our next offense. Oh Boy!! Looks like USC will get a nice boost in the polls with LSU, OU, and Mizzou all losing. Congrats on that.
Florida looked damn good tonight....Fast, very fast.

True...but look at the conferences they play in.
Baylor has four Top 10 teams in its division!!!!
borromini 10-13-2008, 10:06 AM Well as we saw with the SEC, that can change in a heartbeat. :)
There's one team from Pac 10 (USC) and one team from the Big 10 (Penn State) that also are in position to win it all. Be interesting to see how the green teams in those conferences do against those two teams.
18 is # 1 10-13-2008, 12:44 PM By their very nature, B12 and SEC teams eat their own. But then again, that's the consequences of forming their "Super" conferences.
Dad Gum, don't it make for some interesting seasons. The bad part is most of them schedule pitiful schools for out of conference play to make their final standings look better in terms of bowl eligibility.

Wareagle34 10-20-2008, 09:48 PM Same when the SEC plays offense.
If your waiting for Auburn to play offense, don't hold your breath.
But, every year that the SEC has made the BCS, people question if their offense is good enough to win and it seems that it is combined with how the defense usually shuts down a good offense.
Wareagle34 10-20-2008, 11:47 PM Did any of you guys see this. I didn't see the game but I just heard about it. The SEC has cleared the ref of any wrong doing, but I don't see how.

So in comparison, since Tuberville changed the system that would be equivalent to the crew chief in nascar making a bad decision in the set up of a car. So it's not really "driver error". Blame it all on the head coach.:haha:
borromini 10-26-2008, 07:56 AM Texas had its hands full with Oklahoma St. It only gets tougher with Texas Tech next. I think that's more of a real test than the Oklahoma game. The Red Raiders are looking fabulous these days. We'll find out if they're for real.

I don't think so. OSU (or Okie Lite as we call them) have a formidable defense. They shut down Baylor much more effectively than OU. Although their offense is not as potent as Tech, the Texas D should hold them to numbers small enough for Colt McCoy to beat them.
borromini 10-31-2008, 11:44 PM Guess we'll have to wait and see. :)
drbrosco 11-01-2008, 06:59 AM I agree that Oklahoma St has a much better defense than Tech will put out there. But Tech has an awesome scoring machine with Harrell leading the way that should make it a shootout til the end imo.

I guess Alabama (Damn) is for now. If they do run the table to the SEC Championship game, I think Florida will knock them off. Florida seems like the only team that is (lately) playing lights out on both sides of the ball. And they have so much speed it's not fair.
The BCS Championship game should be the winner of the SEC vs the winner of the Big 12. Seems to me that these have, by far been the top conferences this year.

SOBAY310 11-06-2008, 11:41 AM Maybe Obama can bring us a CFB Playoff. Something needs to be done because USC should not be 7th. Look at this:

Ohio State (W 35-3)
@ Oregon State (L 27-21)
Oregon (W 44-10)
Arizona State (W 28-0)

Washington (W 56-0)

Wow, I feel your pain Sobay, but Pete wasn't doing much complaining when my Auburn Tigers were the ones left out and his Trojans were in. I do agree with him though, but espn ripped Tuberville for complaining in '04, so why are they not ripping these coaches now? For now Penn St. has the biggest gripe, but I don't really feel sorry for them since it's the Big 10 commish that so strongly against the BCS.

Yeah, 'ol Petey probably wasn't doing a campaign for your Tigers, but he has said all along that he doesn't understand how this BCS thing works. It's just really unfortunate that we can't have a playoff system. Something has got to give sooner or later though, right?

It would definitely take pressure from a power such as obama's office to get those conference officals to move to a playoff. But I doubt any prez would want to get in the middle of that. Didn't Bush voice his displeasure about something in sports a few years ago??? Seems like he did but I can't remember what it was or if it helped.
I think the problem USC is gonna have is they have nobody on that schedule worth a dime other than Ohio St. & there is not another team on that schedule that makes USC look good imo. Wash. & Wash St. may be the two worst teams in division 1. And they lost to an average at best Oregon St. team. Just a down year for the PAC 10. So I think that stuff hurts them.
But no matter what somebody is gonna get screwed in this system. The main thing that ticks me off is when the conferences say it would make our kids play too many games way to late into January. Why don't they use the whole month of December that they basically waste to play out their playoff & the season would be over by the first week of january.

drbrosco 11-09-2008, 09:52 AM TTechers is stout...should they jump Bama?
I agree Texas Tech is definitely a strong team & has looked to be the best team in the best conference this year. BUT I don't think they should jump Alabama as Bama has beat a solid schedule also & won in a very hostile enviroment yesterday.
But I would LOVE to see it end up Bama verses Texas Tech in the finals, bur Florida is gonna have a say in that the way they are playing.
jpfrasier 11-09-2008, 02:18 PM Texas Tech does look strong but I don't think they should jump Alabama either. But, Tech better bring their A+ game on the 22nd against OU. They have been amazing since they lost to t.u.
borromini 11-14-2008, 10:44 AM Trojans D had another great game. The offense is very iffy and the penalties are killing us.
Edit: Well, we did outgain them 411-165 but something just ain't right with our offense. The Trojans haven't been able to finish drives with TDs like they used to. Against a very good defensive team that can match USC, that could spell trouble. The good news is that it's highly unlikely that USC will encounter any more good defenses until the Rose Bowl when they will likely play against the Nittany Lions who have a decent D.

Is it possible? YES.......will it happen.....uh.......probably not.
The only way I see Auburn winning is if they force Ga. to make alot of mistakes on offense, which the dawgs have been known to do this year. Defense is the only advantage I think the Tigers have, Ga. offensive line has been banged up all year and Auburn's D-line is the strongest part of the team. We'll see, but I'm not betting on it. But WAREAGLE!! anyway.
browndk26 11-14-2008, 07:31 PM Our D has sucked the last three games. UK should have beat us but their QB choked by throwing the pass that was intercepted.

Wareagle34 11-15-2008, 06:22 PM Well it was a good game. I really think if Auburn would have let Kodi Burns play the entire season they would be further along and maybe his pass game would have been improved by now. borromini 11-30-2008, 10:37 AM ...If Florida wins by a close margin, does Bama have a legitimate argument that they should get a rematch in the BCS Championship??That scenario is probably unlikely since the BCS also uses the computer rankings. Yes, we have just as legitimate an argument as every one loss team out there. However, you won't see it happen. We wouldn't be high enough in the computer polls and the timing of when you lose is important here. Noone except us would be interested in watching a rematch and everyone else would be screaming for their shot. I do think if OK wins the title game, Texas should be given the AP championship if they win thiers.

I think it sucks, dumb ass move, imo. Who are they going to find that can do a better job. The only guy I would want is Steve Spurrier, but I don't think he is going anywhere. I'm sure it'll be 3 years before they can start winning again now, and no telling how many recruits they are going to lose with the coaching change. Tuberville was very well liked with most the fans so this is not a popular decision.

After he told Tuberville that he was the guy FOR NOW. He deserved more than that from Auburn. Ever since the University was made to look bad by flying out to see Petrino years back behind everyones back, they have been waiting for the right time to get pay back. Now they got it, and I just saw on ESPN that 5 recruits have already taken back their verbal commits.
I did hear a rumor that they wanted to talk to Petrino, I am sure this has no weight to it, but if they bring in that coward after what he did to the Falcons, I'll have to find a new team for a while.
eyern1 12-05-2008, 12:46 AM How you liking that administration down there now? But don't tell me you would leave your team over Petrino being chosen. Don't come jump on our bandwagon if you do. drbrosco 12-06-2008, 08:47 PM I find it kinda hard to believe anyone would make a joke about Bama, a team who wasn't even ranked in the preseason, just because they finally lost one game to the hottest team in College football. And it took Florida everything they had in them for a full 60 minutes to come away with a win.
I say hats off to Bama for a great season. Too bad they lost now instead of 5-6 weeks ago or they would be in the title game. But good luck to the Gators, that is if they have any fans on here as I can't remember any. Orta be a great game between them & the Sooners.
drbrosco 12-06-2008, 08:56 PM Why is it that I keep hearing that Texas Tech QB Harrell says Leach will be gone after this year? Is he possibly going to Auburn? I seen where TT has offered him $12 milion to stay so I would think only a school like Auburn could or would offer him more than that.

That is the rumor, but it is hard to imagine he would want to leave TT and land in Auburn after what they just did to Tuberville. With Bama being back on top his leash will be short. I don't know who they will bring in, but I could see where they may struggle to land a top guy with what just happened. I think the fools in charge at Auburn will be regretting this decision to force out Tubs for the next 5-7 years.

Hey, maybe if he did they could definatley dump the spread, oh sorry, dead offense. I heard yesterday that their top RB commit, who is from one of the top local schools around Atlanta, is now exploring other options and may be heading to Florida. Auburn's top brass forgot the Tuberville was a hell of a recruiter. I think the total number of commits who are considering other options has made it to 10. See you guys in the BCS around 2016, cause it'll still be around.

I don't see how this award does not go to Bradford with those stats playing against teams in what was supposed to be the best conference this year.
I know Tebow led his troops at the end well, but he played like crap the first part of the season & I should know as he was my Fantasy QB on my College Fantasy team. I remember I was 3rd overall & thought no way I will get Tebow, but when Harrell & Beanie Wells went 1 & 2 I was jumpimg for joy. That came to a quick screeching halt as tebow cost me bad the first half of the season.
Look at Bradford's whole season & then look at Tebow's & I don't see how anyone could vote for Tebow as I thought the award should be for what you have done all year, not since the last week of October.

I think playing in the "Big Game" in Miami Jan.8th may have tipped the scales. Congrats to Sam. A good kid from a great family. For those who don't know, his parents are missionaries in the Philippines.
borromini 12-14-2008, 02:18 AM Pretty remarkable that sophomores have won it two years in a row. :)
eck979 12-16-2008, 01:04 PM Psh.. bradford? Where the hell was Harrell through this whole thing?

Opps wrong Texas coach. They got Chizik instead.
drbrosco 12-16-2008, 02:46 PM What is kinda crazy imo is that of the 3 QB's Bradford, McCoy, & Tebow that the college football shows are saying Bradford is the only sure thing for the NFL as a QB. I heard Tebow would probably be a late pick, but him having the ability to play about 4 positions should make a team's roster. Also heard em say that Harrell might not be NFL material at all. Can't remember much what they said about McCoy.
But I just think it is strange that outta the supposedly top players in college doesn't mean a darn thing when it comes to playing in the NFL.
I remember Charlie Ward for Fla St. won the heisman & never took a snap for an NFL team cause he wasn't good enough so he went to the NY Knicks & never had much luck there.
I thought Matt Lienhart would be a good NFL QB but he sucks just like David carr, Joey Harrington & the list just goes on of guys who were on top of the CFB world & sucked in the NFL.
It just shows what a different game the NFL is, for instance take Joe Flacco, from Delaware. Ravens draft this guy in the mid first round & looks to me they hit the jackpot with that pick & he was pretty much a nobody to us guys who were following CFB week in & week out. I know I had never heard of him until NFL Network started covering draft stuff.
The player who if not hurt probably would have been invited to the Heisman is Chris "beanie" Wells from Ohio St.. Now I look for this guy to be the best NFL player out of all the offensive players coming out this year.
Anyways I agree 100% with Bradford being the winner as he was simply the best from start to finish this year. Just hope that doesn't jinx him when they play Florida as I hope Oklahoma beats the gators so bad they will be embarrased to be seen on TV afterwards or to even go back to school. Doubt I get my wish though:) Oklahoma wins, but in a close one.
drbrosco 12-16-2008, 03:54 PM What was up with Auburn hiring a guy who was 5-19 at Iowa St.:confused::confused:
I heard he was Auburn's defensive coordinator when they went undefeated & that must be why they hired him is the job he done there as a DC. But 5-19 isn't so bad when you think about the situation as he took over a lousy CFB school in a big time CFB conference, so you couldn't really expect alot in just two years, but I thought sure they would go for a big name.
I definitely wouldn't have hired Turner Gill though. People say look what he done with a lousy Buffalo team in just a few years. I agree they are better but still they only went 8-5 in one of the weakest conferences in CFB & believe me I know what a terribly weak conference it is as I live about 20 minutes from Miami U.'s stadium so they & the MAC conference are covered alot in our local paper. And it was no big deal beating Ball St. who may have been undefeated but no biggie when you see who they play. So I agree Gill was probably not ready for a job like that.
If I was Turner Gill I would pick up the phone & call Charles Barkley & say, Would you shut your big fat mouth up!
I am sure with another season or two of progress Gill will get a better job, but more like a Big East or Acc team before he could get in at a school like Auburn.
Oh well, good luck WAREAGLE with who you guys got.

Yeah Chizik was a great DC, but I hate that Auburn hired him as a head coach. After what happened with Tuberville, no good coach is going to want to come to Auburn. As far as Gill goes I don't think he is ready to be a head coach in a conference like the SEC, but then again neither is Chizik. I would imagine in 2-3 years we'll be going through this all over again. Maybe by then Charlie Strong from Florida will be available still.
juice4dman 12-17-2008, 01:28 PM Psh.. bradford? Where the hell was Harrell through this whole thing?
He might have had a chance before Oklahoma led by Bradford blew Texas Tech out of the water. It was all over for him after that. It's kind of sad. He had a really good season until then.
