I have a couple questions to ask about my Toshiba HD DVD Player model: HD-A20

1.) Is the Toshiba HD DVD Player model: HD-A20 HDMI v1.3 compliant technology?

2.) Does this player decode sound for home theater?

3.) Will I still be able to download firmware updates via Ethernet from the back of the player when connected to the INTERNET or will I have to download the firmware manually from this day forth just to update the player? Please advise...thank you! :hithere:

1. The HD-A20 will work fine with an HDMI 1.3 receiver, but it does not offer all features that are possible with HDMI 1.3. You will not be able to bitstream DTS-HD MA is one shortcoming. It is HDMI 1.3 compliant for whatever that is worth.

2. Yes, but it does not decode DTS-HD MA, as far as I know, no HD DVD player did. It does decode all other audio formats used with HD DVD and there aren't many HD DVD titles with DTS-HD MA and it will handle the core DTS stream when you play one.

3. Yes, you can use the ethernet connection to download firmware updates. There is a sticky with instructions on this forum.
