Can we please have spoiler tags?

It would be really nice if we could black out spoilers in the At the Movies and Blu-ray reviews sub-forums to avoid any problems with people who haven't seen the movies yet.

Thanks :hithere:

Excellent idea!

What kind of "tag" are we talking about?

To be honest, I'm not sure what type of tags they are called but it's the same type of tags we are already using, i.e. boldface is "b" (in brackets) followed by "/b" (in brackets). Spoiler tags would be followed by . I've seen this on quite a few other forums. It hides the text you type inside the tags and anyone reading your post will need to highlight the spoiler to read it. Not a huge deal since you can always type a warning like "SPOILERS AHEAD!", but I was thinking it'd be a nice little feature to add to the site and would make things easier since maybe you want to write a long review of a movie but have a few spoilers in it that you can tag.

Here I found a link that might help illustrate what I'm talking about better-- http://forums.invisionpower.com/lofiversion/index.php/t160265.html

We have these installed on DVDTalk.com. It is completely do-able. It'll just have to be something that's further down the list, as we have some other issues that are more pressing at the moment.

Glow: thanks for the link. That's for invision power board, which is an ASP forum software.

What you want hidden, you include in a [spoiler] tag.

I understand completely. You must really have your hands full with all these new site acquisitions. Adding spoiler tags here should definitely be at the bottom of the list of things you need to do, it's just a trivial feature but it will be nice to have. Thanks for listening to our feedback here, I think you guys are doing a great job trying to improve the forum.

I like that better than having to highlight the text.

When discussing movies I have changed the spoiler text the same color as the background and stated to see the spoiler part to highlight the text.

This spoiler button is much cleaner and cooler. :D

That's actually a pretty smart work around though.

Spoiler Tag has been implemented

It has been done.

To make something hide, include it in a hidden message goes here tag like you see here.
