Hooking up a DVD Recorder to DVR.......?

I am thinking about buying a DVD Recorder to hook up to my DVR.

I want to record some stuff that is on my DVR Hard Drive so that my wife can view them on our TV in our bedroom upstairs, also to free up some space on the HD.

Also to record TV shows or movies for my mom since I don't believe she even owns a VCR anymore.

Can this be done...........????

If so, I will post on the DVD Player section to get suggestions on some cheap reliable DVD Recorders to look at.

I have a DVD recorder hooked up to my DVR using standard audio/video outputs from the DVR. It works fine - I can set it to record 2, 4 or 6 hours on a DVD. Dish also has a deal now where you can hook up a larger hard drive to your Dish DVR for $49.99 one time fee. I'm using a Samsung upconverting DVD recorder. It isn't HD, but I don't care for most of the stuff I record to DVD - if I really want to watch it the way it was intended, I buy it.

That's how I feel.
I really want to put some of my 49ers games that are on my DVR, onto DVD and also some other programs too.

Can Dual Layer discs be used as well ?

It works fine unless the original has Macrovision copy guard. Some recorders will shut off when that is detected. Also you need to set the output to one of the SD output formats to record.
