PC Review: Mitsubishi HC1600 720p DLP HT Projectorborromini 07-18-2008, 12:25 PM http://www.projectorcentral.com/mitsubishi_hc1600_review.htm $1,000 DLP 720p PJ for those with tight budgets. digs5446 07-18-2008, 09:50 PM Am I reading that review right that the HC1600 only has a 2x color wheel, when the previous 2 models (HC1000 in '06 and HC1500 in '07) had 4x color wheels??? The "new and improved" model will have a MORE pronounced rainbow effect than its predecessors??? borromini 07-18-2008, 10:30 PM I think it's an error and should have been stated as 4x. While improvements have been made to the unit...the color wheel speed is still standard fare for DLP 720p units. digs5446 07-19-2008, 11:46 AM hm, OK. digs5446 07-24-2008, 06:37 AM I think it's an error and should have been stated as 4x. While improvements have been made to the unit...the color wheel speed is still standard fare for DLP 720p units. Turns out the HC1600 does actually have the slower 2x color wheel. The guys at www.projectorcentral.com updated their review to include a comparison w/ the HC1500. http://www.projectorcentral.com/mitsubishi_hc1600_review.htm Scroll to the bottom for the section "Mitsubishi HC1600 versus HC1500". Bottom line is that the new model will be brighter but will have worse rainbow effect...if you are bothered by them in the first place. Since I've never viewed a DLP projector I'm not sure if I will notice them, but I have a light-controlled room (basement) so I'm glad I went w/ the HC1500 just in case. borromini 07-24-2008, 09:21 AM That truly is odd and most unfortunate. I believe that's the first time a single-chip DLP projector model came out with a slower color wheel speed than its predecessor. | |
