KDL40X3100 question about display 1080?

hey sorry i am new at this site, i have just purchased a sony bravia KDL40X3100 which is the 40" lcd and i was wondering if it is infact 'full' hd because on my playstation 3 it can detect 1080i but not 1080p.

when i go to display settings it says 1080i if i try to choose 1080p the screen goes all blank n that static screen comes up. i just checked the sony website under display settings and it said 1080.

i was wondering if anyone knew for sure if it supported 1080p as well?

i jst viewed a blueray on it and as the screen started it said 1080i but as soon as the movie started it said on the left hand corner
'1080/24p'
which i have no idea what that is.

According to the specs on SONY's site, it can accept 1080p and even 1080p/24 (native movie content), but that is set by the player (or PS3 in this case).

Are you using HDMI?
