So I'm on a college student's budget and I'm looking for a 32" TV. I have pretty much narrowed down my choice between these two. The Sony is $686 at Wal-Mart and the Sharp is $647. They both have two HDMI, two component, and one PC input. The Sharp has a 6 ms response time and the Sony has an 8 ms response time. For that reason, and the price, I'm leaning towards the Sharp.
Does anyone have experience with these two TVs (or Sony and Sharp in general) that could tell me if the Sharp is really the better deal? Thanks in advance.

toss a coin! :D I like the better respose and the styling of the Sharp much better and it cost a few bucks less. Sharp I would get.

Also, should I buy at Best Buy (4-year service plan for $89.99) or Wal-Mart (2-year service plan for $58.88, plus 1 year that comes with the TV)? Anyone use either of these?

Well, I just put in my order for the Sharp at Best Buy... waiting for my email to go pick it up!

Personally, I never buy them. The Sharp is $617 at CC this week.

Really, didn't see that. I'm not really a CC fan anyways, so it doesn't bother me that much. What's 30 bucks when you're spending over $750 anyways?

I bought an LC37SB24U last week. Final price, including taxes: $782. From Sears. How'd I do that as their price was $999? Walmart had the same TV for $836, so price match +10% difference, then on top of that 10% discount using Sears credit card.
FYI, it has the SAME specs as the Aquos LC37D44U. The 24U series came out in April, while the 44U has been around since February. Apparently, new Aquos are 1080p, methinks. Otherwise, I don't know the difference.
So far, I am very happy with my purchase. Really got it for the PC input/dot by dot monitor capability. Unfortunately, I have been noticing some very faint horizontal banding issues on the PC input where the bands slowly move up or down the screen. I would like to know what the problem is, but I believe it is attributable to the source - my Dell 1100 inspiron laptop is almost 5 years old, and no doubt its graphics card is way out of date. It is a 56mb Intel 82845/GL/GE/PE/PV Graphics Controller.
Can anyone comment on the banding?
I haven't noticed it on the other inputs, and even with the PC input sometimes it isn't even noticeable at all.
Thanks, and I hope the LC32SB24U makes the OP happy!

Wow, that's a nice deal! 32" is fine for me, though I wouldn't complain about 37"!
I'm actually trying to figure out the best way to connect my Dell Inspiron E1505. What cable do you use to go to the TV? Is the picture quality good aside from the banding?

VGA cable all the way. I bypass the sound input though and run sound directly from my computer to multi media speakers w/ subwoofer. Will probably upgrade to the Bose system sometime in the future.
To be honest, I haven't been able to create an input signal worthy of this TV yet. All I have is a 480p DVD player, my 5 year old computer, and an analog signal from my cable provider. :haha:
I have some serious upgrading to do!
I'll let you know.

Damn, that's a sad predicament. I don't have HD cable (hell, I don't even have cable in my room), but I mainly bought the TV for my Xbox 360, which is beautiful. DVDs also look beautiful on it - 24 was sharp, the explosions were great, and action scenes were awesome (hooray 6ms response).

So I bought a nice SVGA cable at the campus store today for 10 bucks, got back home and plugged it all in. Works pretty nicely, I'd say. The manual says that the SVGA cable is only compatible with 800x600, but I can display nicely in 1024x768 (is that bad for my TV?). I can set my video card to display 1360x768, but the screen stretches out past the boundaries of the TV - is this overscan?
Overall, it's not bad, and it should work nicely as a monitor once I figure out the ins and outs with regards to my video card/driver.
EDIT: Never mind, a quick change of settings on the TV allows me to display in 1360x768! WOOT
