Fall - Whole home DVR update rolling in Dallas TX

I was having some stuttering Saturday night with my TV service, so I called in to troubleshoot with the techs. We eventually got it working, but she had a tech come out the next morning anyway. Good thing as my internet (seemingly) went out also. Internet was actually fine, but during the TV trouble shooting, we did a factory reset of the Gateway, and I forgot to have the phone tech change it from WPA to WEP . :duh:

Anyway, the next morning the tech shows up, helps me fix the internet, but has all kinds of trouble with the Gateway, and has to replace it to completely fix the TV stuttering issue. At this point he mentions that he's glad it was just the Gateway as they can replace that during the system "update", the STB's can't be replaced at that time. I asked what update was happening. I assumed it was the 2 HD stream update I had manually pushed several weeks ago. He answered that it was the Whole Home DVR update. Apparently the firmware is being updated now, and the software will be rolling out sometime this fall. I know, we've heard that before, but this was straight from the technician who also discussed it with his support team over the phone.

So long story short, sometime this fall, whole home DVR is rolling out to U-verse subscribers. :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

Whole home DVR will allow the standard (non-DVR) U-verse boxes access the files stored on the U-verse DVR, thus allowing a single DVR serve as a DVR for the whole house. It is possible with U-verse because all of the U-verse boxes are connected to the same local area network.

I read on the U-verse users forum that they are turned on in some places in California.
