Signal strength is in the mid 90's for every station except 1 and the signal strength for it is in the mid 80's.
Frustrates the hell out of my wife and I. It has happened ever since I got the 722 but seems to be getting worse as time goes by. I've called Dish and asked if they know of any problems with the OTA receiver in the 722. Of course they say no and claim it has to be my antenna. Gee...wonder how that can be with such strong signals and when the built in tuner in my TV never drops the signal. I've also hooked up one of the digital converter boxes and it has no issue either.
I'm guessing that either my 722 is bad of the OTA receiver in it is crap. But of course what the hell can I do about it since Dish says there is no problem?

I don't start losing OTA signal until it goes below 70 in signal strength.
All my OTA channels are 73-82 in signal strength and it's fine, I would think your dvr is no good, but that's hard to prove.
I use this antenna: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Performance-Amplified-Indoor-Antenna/dp/B000ES8EG0/ref=pd_sim_dbs_e_img_5
I have the 722 HDDVR.

Im sure you have checked, but for what its worth, I'll give you my story. My parents had the same problem, and the TV did ok picking up the signal, however it was progressivley getting worse. We checked everything, and couldnt figure it out. Finally as a last resort, we checked the antenna, and sure enough, the mast had loosened up and the antenna turned just a little bit. We readjusted and tightened it back up, and we were back in business... so for what its worth, maybe check the antenna.. .

there is one other possibility you need to check with OTA reception before assuming its the receiver. What antenna are you using ? Run a check in www.antennaweb.org with your full address...when the results are returned, click on the button for digital stations only and look at the "compass headings" column and the distance columns. If your signals are comming from different directions, or you have large buildings or geography between you and the TV broadcast towers, you could have "multipath" problems. Multipath is where the signal reflects off something and comes at your antenna from multiple directions, each with a tiny reflection delay. Even though the signal strength is strong, the reflected signals can cause the reception to break up.
And one last question, do you have a antenna amplifier in-line with the antenna ? Your 80 to 90 signal strength could be the amplifier strength and not the actual received signal strength.
Anyway, a little more information about your setup will help

Have you hooked up your antenna directly to your HD TV? Try it and check signal strength and picture. If you have no problem that way, try splitting the signal, one to the 722 and the other to the TV. When the signal goes out on the 722 switch to the TV and see if you have the problem. Then you can blame Dish and have some proof to tell them. You should be able to see a picture with about 30 percent signal strength

Yes, see my original post. When hooked directly to the TV I never lose the OTA signal.

So are you gonna ask for a new DVR?
If one CS rep says no, hang up and talk to someone else, we all know service can vary dramatically from one CSR to another.
You OTA signal is VERY strong, you shouldn't have that problem.
If you tell them you lose signal at 90% strength while you know that others with 75% strength are fine then they will be less likely to argue that it's your antenna at fault.
