Mirroring off a HD DISH receiver

I have replaced my standard DVR DISH receiver with an HD DVR receiver. The previous receiver had a TV mirrored off of it, but we have been unable to mirror it off of the HD receiver. Any suggestions, or is it just not possible?

What do you mean by mirroring, that term is not the usual terminology used with receiver outputs?

Do you mean having two TV's seeing the same programming? (connect one to HDMI and the second to the component outputs or use any one or more of the many SD outputs)

"Mirroring" is a very common term used by installers - it means connecting two TV's to one output thus making both TV's a mirror image of each other.

In most cases you can only mirror the TV2 output since there is no coax output for TV1. You could mirror TV1 by getting an HDMI splitter or a digital modulator, but then the second TV would have also have to be HD or it would look horrible. BTW this is not a cheap option.

i have tried an HDMI / DVI splitter with no success. I have 2 HDTV's connected to my HD outputs. One HDMI, the other is RGB. TV 2 is coax.

That is correct. The second TV sees exactly what is on TV1. If I have a DVD on TV1 that works, but we're not sure how to hookup the HD programming as there is not the needed output on the DISH HD DVR box.

John is right here. You can connect one TV using the HDMi output and one TV using the RGB output. I would think that running an HDMI cable to your second TV would not be cost effective, but you can get RGB cabling in various lengths.

I've got about 150' of component laying around we could custom cut for you and ship (with connectors attached). We don't have a lot of use for it except when we do commercial customers. I'll send you our number.

Ask for Rob if this is what you want to do.

Hope this helps.
