I've had this problem for quite awhile:
Everything is only connected via component cables.
We bought an Insignia 30inch CRT HDTV about 2-3 years ago during a Black Friday(day after thanksgiving) sale at Best Buy (yeah yeah i know) that supports 480i,480p, 720p and 1080i. Always have it set on 720p for anything I use thats HD, but thats besides the point.
Anyway, for some reason, everytime the TV displays an extremely bright HD image (say PS3 Echochrome demo or Resistance Fall of Man death screen), the picture gets "jumpy" for a bit, and sometimes the TV goes black then puts the picture back up as if it was trying to readjust for that resolution or something. I havent come across this problem with the 360 in use, but when using the PS3 or watching an HD station, it seems to happen whenever an excessively bright (not always white) image comes on screen.
Also it happens from time to time when watching a DVD on the 360 in 480p. Never any problems with the Wii when its in 480p though.
Is the TV just broken, or is there something I can do to remedy this?
Uploaded a video of it awhile back, but the rules prohibit me from posting a url so early...so I guess i'll have to pass on that.
Im using a Psyclone HD system switcher so I can have all 3 systems + Dish network HD box hooked up to the TV at the same time. Never noticed and picture interference or quality degradation so I dont think that would cause the problem.
If its just the TV itself, im probably going to try and get a decent TV around christmas time that supports 1080p and is of a more trustworthy brand.
