VOOM may not be dead on DISH as some people think. The 15 channels have been removed of course by Dish network. However they are still sitting on the transponders and still uplinked.on 61.5 and 129,they are just not showing up on the receivers guides.Perhaps Dish is trying to negotiate some kind of deal .For all the voomers out there Voom needs to work with dish and work out a deal.I dont see how Voom can afford to lose that much revenue seeing that Dish has alot of subscribers. One thing voom might show alot of repeats but it is original hd programming with no commercials. This is something DIrect doesnt have.{voom}.Well I guess its a waiting game.We will simply have to wait and see if DISH pulls the entire plug on VOOM.:what:

Remember a couple of years ago DISH had a contract dispute with LIFETIME and took them off the air.Well that ticked off alot of Dish subscribers ,especially women.I think DISH got the message on that one .If we all contact DISH and demand VOOM back it could possibly make a difference.

If Dish has only so much capacity to carry HD channels, I would rather have as many national hd channels as possible including premium movie channels from HBO, Cinemax, etc. Voom's content was lacking and the only channel I miss is Monster. Use the capacity for Spike, Speed, MTV, etc. Jmho.

A few days ago Dish proved that they had the capacity to carry much more than they now do.
Don't forget all they new channels went up and worked perfectly for about 9 hours before the first 10 Vooms were removed. If this were done the other way, it would be hard to say.
And yes they are not only just uplinked but the signals are still streaming. Just your recievers are not able to see them.

I agree - especially since DISH owns 20% of the company. I hope they're not dead for good and this is just a power play on Charlie's part.

remember, Dish still has 2 more birds to put up in orbit this year
anything is still possibble for voom
I'm looking at this as Dish moving all there channel's around and setting them up so they are easier to get to and in proper order
I hated the way the guide was setup where you had to go to a certain section of the guide to get to a certain channel
My main concern for HD was the local's which I waited 6 months for and then finally recieved, so I can wait a little while longer for them to work out a deal or organize there HD lineup
They stated 100 HD by the end of year, so we have ummm 6 months for them to meet there goal

they have to pay for showing them, even though Dish owns part of VOOM. While no one is talking it seems VOOM wanted too much to continue. It is not hard to understand why DISH is squeezing VOOM by not subscribing and instead showing programming with commercials (point is these replacements probably cost DISH much less).

Spent part of the weekend watching notes coming back from a group from another forum that went to Team Summit.
This group actually met with Charlie and senior VP of programming, Eric Stahl.
As far as Voom goes, Charlie does not want Voom back the way it was. 15 channels was too many. He would like to get some of them or some sort of condensed version with more programming and less repeats that totalled 5 channels maybe. That was said Friday night.
But then it seemed something like happened later on. On Saturday there was something talked about that nobody can discuss. My feeling is it wasn't good.
This should all come out in the open pretty soon. Thats all I can say about that right now.

I see everyone commenting on not having room have both the Voom channels AND more national HD's. If bandwith is the problem, why re each of the HD channels broadcast twice - once right next to it's SD counterpart and again in the 9000's?

Those are mirrors of those particular channels. It doesnt use any bandwith at all.

VOOM is dead
The people that owned them ( the Dolans from cablevision}
Is getting rid of them even on cablevision......
If they are not making money with Dish and dish took the stations down.....Then Dolans are getting rid of all that programing.....
But you can hook up a Bel Express from canada and pickup a few of the Voom stations like the treasure channel..........
