lcrngrs 05-15-2008, 12:54 PM I was told by a CSR that the next group of HD channels to be added are: Nickelodeon, MTV, IFC,WGN,BET,another HBO, VH1 and CMT. Unfortunately, no solid date, but hopefully soon. I do miss MONSTERS HD though.:hithere:
I also questioned her about cinemax 5-star and stated it is not HD. Her answer was that she shows it as an SD only channel, so why is it on the HD guide?
Egotist 05-15-2008, 01:05 PM Finally, I can watch celebreality in HD, Woohoo!

I read that there is a technical problem at HBO which is preventing 5-star Max's HD feed from being sent out. They hope to have it up and running . . . SOON!
costanza_fu 05-15-2008, 01:55 PM I heard IFC too.. and he said it would be added real soon.
MTV will ease my wife a bit.. lol. Between loosing that and Lifetime when I made the switch to the all HD package, shes been a bit disapproving. However, the absence of Lifetime has brought us closer together IMO.
Yes616 05-15-2008, 02:44 PM I would think we can forget about IFC or AMC right now. Do you know what company owns them? Rainbow Media.
Do you know what else Rainbow Media owns? Voom!
I would say that idea just went BOOM! But what do I know? I am not just an 800 pound gorilla in the room. :2cents
costanza_fu 05-15-2008, 02:46 PM haha.. wtf!

Thanks

Perhaps, but the girl at Dish was reading from what she called "her latest information" when she told me what to expect next. Of course, you never know, and only time will tell.:D
lawdogg 05-15-2008, 03:00 PM Would like to see Spike and Speed added along with more hd premium movie channels. :2cents
msusig1855 05-15-2008, 03:13 PM who cares about MTV, VH1, CMT..there has been no HD content on these channels at ALL!!!! I'd rather have MonstersHD than these 3 channels.
Iain1974 05-15-2008, 03:50 PM I'd like to see more premium movie channels. I pay plenty for them and feel a bit more HD isn't too much to ask for.
scottstl 05-15-2008, 04:24 PM does anybody know why Dish is fighting Fox? i wants me some speedtv HD. just courious. thanks

I think it has something to do with the fact that Dish subs need to get at least the AT200 programming package to get the Fox News Channel, whereas Fox wants it included in the lowest priced package (AT100). But don't quote me on that; that's just what I recall picking up from a post or two in the past.

I think they also want Dish to carry all their HD channels (i.e. Fox News, Movie Channel, Soccer, Speed, etc), not to be selective.

FOX (which is owned by News Corp happens to also own DTV) is suing DISH to force them to include Fox News Channel (FNC) in AT100. DISH's response is that FNC is in the same package it has always been in which is now called AT200. Supposedly the contract requires DISH to include FNC in their most popular base package, which happens to be AT200. DISH does not want to move it to the AT100 because it is a very popular channel that many upgrade to AT200 to get thus increasing revenue (I'm a retailer and I can vouch for that).
Many people don't think FOX has a chance at this lawsuit because DISH has honored the agreement as written. So why sue? I believe that by being in litigation FOX has a "valid" reason to withhold their HD lineup for as long as possible without being accused of any wrongdoing, thus giving DTV an advantage. That's one main reason Speed HD is not already available - probably after some major Nascar events that just happen to only be available in HD on Speed. What a coincidence!
I predict that this suit will be dismissed - sooner than later. We'll just have to wait and see.

Dish is suing News Corp for hacking into its security software; Dish says it lost $900 milion. That might be a fly in the ointment, so to speak.

Add to that the reasons I detailed in my earlier post in this thread and you'll understand this is a fine mess they have themselves in. I still think News Corp did this on purpose to give their sister company - DTV - a short-term advantage.
