Previously I had America's top 100 and Dish Ultimate (37.99 for D100 with locals + $20 for Dish Ultimate = 57.99)

Then I called and switched to Dish HD (29.99 + 5 for locals = 34.99)

Gee this was a no brainer.

But...

Dish HD (29.99) lists Bravo as one of the channels.

My Bravo is "redded out"
I called and asked about it and the woman said you can only get Bravo in HD if you subscribe to America's top 200. But Dish HD does not give a choice of Top 100/200/250 and it shows Bravo as one of the channels.

Guess my question is do you think I should be getting Bravo with Dish HD?

I'd think so.. since its right there on their website.

Remember, BravoHD just went live yesterday. There may still be some quirks to work out. But you're right, you should be getting it. I think it's time to play CSR roulette! Call back and ask again. If they give you the same answer, ask to spear to a supervisor. Sometimes these poor CSR's don't have all of the info they should at the right time.

There has been some reported glitches when the new channels were added, have you tried to reboot your receiver?

Definitely a no brainer. When they exclude your own local RSN(s), I easily say no! Now if Direct adds this and they include my RSN's, my locals in HD, and allow me to add extras such as MLB EI, then I would definitely jump on this package option.

I currently have a 622 HD DVR. Would they give me a second HD DVR or just a standard HD receiver for the second TV? We might go to a second HDTV eventually, but not anytime in the next year. The all HD package looks like a good option as far as the channels available, plus they'll be adding more later, I'm sure.

Would I lose my PIP capabilities by doing this? Any limitations when doing this sort of hookup (Ie. have to watch the same show, can only access one OTA local channel at a time)?

Yes, you would lose your pip, but switching back to single user mode brings it back (switching modes only takes a couple of seconds). I switch mine back and forth depending on the situation. Anything recorded on any tuner is available to both tv's. OTA would only be viewable on tv1 (including guide) but you can dvr ota and view back on tv2. It is something you may want to try to see if you like it.

You can also do a "Dish'n It Up!" to add a Vip612 to your second TV. I think the upgrade would run you $99. If you do, make sure your second TV has RCA and/or S-Video inputs since the 612 does not have a coax output. The 612 is a dual-tuner HD DVR that works on one TV. Be prepared to add a second outlet fee PLUS DVR fee to your monthly bill.

OR

You could add a Vip211 to your second TV and then activate the USB port for a one-time $50 fee which would allow you to add an external hard-drive and make it a DVR. The outlet fee would still apply, but I don't think any monthly DVR fee would, which in the long run would make this a more cost effective solution. The 211 is a single-tuner HD receiver.

i just had a "duh" moment because i now see what is happening. the change to dish HD never took affect. the lady told me it would be immediate and when i saw the new hd's i figured i had been cut over. but all my standard definitions are still there. so i will need to call them and tell them the change didn't take. i used to be a big sports fan and would miss the regional sports network but i just don't have time to follow sports anymore. losing the daily show and colbert report just means i will need to download those episodes from the internet each night to watch them but that is no big deal. all in all the dish hd package works for me. now if only it would work ;-)

finally got my dish hd package fixed up. delayed a day due to computer problems at dish. and no you do NOT get the SD counterparts to the HD's. but that is fine with me. this package suits my needs perfectly :) and a great price!

darn.. spoke too soon, i guess. i cross-graded to the all hd yesterday and had plenty of sd in the lineup..
i'll see if they updated it when i get home.

but i still wanted to pay the extra 5 so i wouldn't lose the program guide
