I like the 722 except for 2 major things that it cannot do whereas TiVo can.
1. You come in and turn the TV on and it's already 20 minutes or so into a program. You want to record the program so you hit record. The things is, it will only record from that point on, it will not go back and record from the beginning of the program. TiVo will do this, it records what it's in the buffer so you get the entire program. Is there a trick on the 722 to record what's in the buffer as well?
2. Watching a pre-recorded program on the 722 kills the live TV buffer. So you watch a recorded program for 30 minutes and then you go back to live TV, it only picks up at that point and time. TiVo continues to record live TV even while you're watching a pre-recorded program. So when you exit out, if something was on the channel you previously had it on, you could rewind back 30 minutes. I wish the 722 could do this.
Just venting I guess. Other than these 2 features, I like the 722 a lot. But these are 2 biggies I wish it could do.
