Sony KD-34XBR970 Screen Popping Issue

My approx. 1 1/2 year old subject CRT TV set is experiencing a
"screen popping" issue. The popping comes through the speakers, too. I use a roof mast-mounted antenna for the only signal reception (besides a DVD player).

It appears as "voltage surges" or ESD strikes.
(I use a surge protector with set.)

Could it be my set "degaussing" itself? I have a large stereo
speaker (8" woofer) next to the set.

The problem seems to get worse the longer I have the set on.

(I plan to use the DVD player - to see if it goes away -
and rule that popping is an antenna reception problem only.)

Does this look like a signal reception issue only?
Any of you Sony KD-34XBR970 owners experiencing this?

I fear this issue may damage my set.

I believe it was the large stereo speaker being too close
to the set - - causing the set to "degauss" itself too
frequently. There is no more "popping."

I learned of this phenomenon from a previous
post on this message board - thanks.

All is good with this fantastic T V set.

The screen popping / flash issue never went away. I had a Sony tech. come out yesteray and replace the C R T Board Assy., a connector of some sorts and apply silicone insulating epoxy to the C R T's pins, all for free under warranty. Everything is so-far-so-good.
