Hi
Recently purchased a Sony KDL-52XBR4, at the time was using TWC 8300HD set top box, a Sony DVD recorder GX330, and Sony receiver STR-DE695. When connecting the DVD to the TV, as soon as you select the input Component, a message half the size of the screen is displayed 551 message, " You cannot use this DVI input"
I was in the market for a new DVD recorder, so I have just purchased a Panny DMR-EZ47VK. I had first connected the DVD recorder with a HDMI calbe. Get the same message. I then switched HDMI cables between cable box and DVD, received same message which ruled out a bad cable. I have tried all three HDMI inputs on the TV, get the same message. Then disconnected the HDMI and connected to TV with Component. Receive same message. However with both types of connections, HDMI or component, as soon as you select play on the DVD, you will have picture and sound.
Is this a message that is mainly a warning regarding copy right, I have spoken to Sony several times and they keep saying it's the Panny recorder, I then explain to Sony, I was getting the same message with the Sony DVD recorder. I have also spoke with Panny and made sure the output was set up correctly on the DVD recorder.
Then Sony claims the DVD recorder isn't HDCP compliant, which it is.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
By the way, I have the equipment connected as follows:
Cable box to TV using HDMI, and coaxial digital to receiver
DVD recorder to TV using HDMI, optical to receiver
Cable box to DVD recorder using S-video and RC R-L for sound
Thanks
