Brisbane 01-07-2008, 02:50 PM Every president I ever voted for since 1976 has lost. The Dodgers lose every time I go to a game. I can lose $500 in Las Vegas as fast as the dealer can deal. I signed my Dish contract just before Direct started adding a bunch of HD. And I got a HD-DVD player for Christmas. Sorry.

Nah, it was me . . . I bought an A2 for $89 before Thanksgiving.

Sell your HD DVD player and buy a PS3. Now.
:)
e_buff 01-07-2008, 10:14 PM Who in their right mind would be dumb enough to buy a used HD DVD player anway? I plan to simply dump mine, and forget that I ever bought it!

e_buff,
I have two HD-DVDs and plan to continue buying HD-DVD movies until i finally buy a 2.0 BD player for $199 or less. I no longer buy SD-DVDs. I don't know if HD-DVD is doomed or not, but I do know that there is no sense in my buying BD, since I don't have a player yet. I certainly don't think that buying high def movies that work on my player is dumb, not for me, not for anyone else in this forum. The movies look and sound stunning and will be a pleasure to use for years to come.
Unless the remaining studios drop HD-DVD, I expect it to be a viable movie medium for years to come. I also expect that unless HD-DVD is finished off quickly, studios that are supporting only one format will eventually get tired of losing out on business and support both formats.
HDMI Fantastic 01-10-2008, 03:14 PM I saw the writing on ther wall last summer (XA1 owner/supporter since Day 1 with over 60 HDDVD movies) and since I bought a PS3 last Feb, I decided in June to only buy HDDVD movies that were not available on BD. Now, it is going to have to be a movie I really, really want-and even then it will be tough. This announcement has totally scuttled my plans for the new Onkyo HDDVD player. There is no way HDDVD can survive this-stop kidding yourself. Warner has the largest catalog! It isn't a matter of what you like, it's what "The American People" decide. And Warner just made it a lot easier for them. Of course I will enjoy my HDDVD catalog-but I am not dumping big $$ into the format any longer.

They call that Luck of the Irish 'round here.

That's why I rent most movies, except a few real keepers. This would hold true regardless of format. Obviously, SD is here to stay until something very revolutionary comes around the corner. I venture to say it is not HD DVD or BD.

Probably something a simple as 3D HD movies stored on a small flash drive.

Like the 3D presentations at Universal Studios. Now that in my living would be fun!

I'm thinking the same thing.
DVD will prevail and HD will become a niche product like Laserdiscs, or die like Laserdiscs.

I would love to see married with children on Blu-Ray.:D

Well Sony lost that battle...I guess they are due.
I am sitting this out...still. Especially since Warner's announcement.

Voting along party lines for the sake of it = not very bright. Some Repub's are more liberal then some of the Democrats....

That is the most retardest thing I ever heard. Why dump it? It is a perfectly good format and it looks just as good as Blu Ray does.
So when you move to Blu Ray if you do, keep your HD DVD. I am. Why would I throw away a perfectly good player.

Thanks, for that.
cjberk 01-17-2008, 12:45 PM OK, here's what you need to do...
1 - Buy a BluRay player right now.
2 - Vote for Hillary.
3 - Pull all of your money out of the stock market.
4 - Place a large bet in Vegas on the Patriots.
Hopefully that will revive HD DVD, keep Hillary out of office, save the stock market and of course cause Belicheat major humiliation.
