Movie
This was fun, I picked this up cause I have enjoyed every Farrely brother's film I've seen thus far. And while this didn't have me laughing out my chair like Dumb and Dumber or There's Something about Mary did, it was still fairly fun. The characters were all enjoyable, Ben Stiller was funny again after a rut of odd films, and seeing him with his dad again was just great, they play off each other well.
Story ended on kind of an oddball, but a good one, and a refreshing one at that.
Video
Awesome, it always feels good to come back to HD after watching a dvd. But Heartbreak Kid does alot more than Knocked Up or 40 Year Old Virgin did to please the eyes, and you can tell through the vibrant colours and the lack of noise. Fantastic transfer.
Audio
Don't have much of a setup, so I can't tell you anything really about audio.
Extras
Not a lot, a decent commentary track and some featurettes that give you the need to know, so alot more than some other comedies released on disc. But again, some problems, Hi def digest said in their review that the featurettes found on disc are in HD, they are definitely not, which is kind of getting to be a nuance. I know there are some things you can't transfer in HD, but I hope we get to see an increase of some of these features coming in high def.
Gag reel and deleted scenes serve their purpose, but it's the feature on the brothers themselves that's worth checking out. If you're a young writer, and you're unsure as to whether or not you can be a director someday, just take note of the brothers, and probably Judd Apatow. This feature gives you insight about how two guys who can write comedy, and know jack shit about lenses and angles and all that jazz. It's a nice feature that doesn't get too indepth and gives you enough motivation to start scratching your funny bone for ideas.
Overall it's a good disc, definitely worth the price. Which is more than I can say for some of the movies I buy on high def.
