daiello 12-26-2007, 12:30 AM Yes I know there are plenty of other threads about this movies, but I just watched it and loved it.
My only question is, is it my TV/Player or the movie it self...There seems to be a constant flicker, more noticeable in the darker scenes, and seems to be more obvious in the end.
I figure its just the movies because I watched Scooby Doo earlier today and I didn't see that problem.

Did you also notice how the dark areas have a dark blue tint to them? Of course I figured this was part of Miller's vision from his graphic novel just as the intentional grain was part of his vision.

No I did notice. But you saw that flickering? It just looked like bad reception or something, static right?

I am relatively certain that what you are referring to is the Miller's vision of the film. Try the SD DVD side and see if you get the same flickering.
anythingwt 12-26-2007, 04:20 PM You're right, this movie has been brought up plenty of times before because of its unique PQ. Basically, its a good movie, its an innaccurate movie from what I've read, and its a movie that intentionally looks like garbage. Some parts look nice, but it mostly looks bad because that's what the director intended. I'd say don't stress that its an issue with your set or player though, especially because scooby doo looked fine.
tipstir 12-26-2007, 05:12 PM Very long but the computer graphics was top notch in my book.

Thanks, yeah, I liked the movie, except it was kind of hard and annoying to watch cause I kept looking at that.
fkjr2 12-27-2007, 02:17 PM I loved this movie - any guy who sees this grows instant balls.
Agreed - some shots look awesome - others grainy as director intended I guess.
Don't know what "flickering" your referring to though.
I have the HD-A35 with JVC 61" DLP and HDMI cable - looks great
daiello 12-28-2007, 01:32 PM I changed the A35 to 1080i from the maxed out one, and the flicker is just about gone. I'll have to check later to see if there is a noticeable change in PQ which there shouldnt cause my TV deinterlaces back to 1080p
daiello 12-28-2007, 01:39 PM I also am upgrading the firmware and will test my old settings to see if they are fixed. I can't believe I forgot about that.
LyLerK 12-28-2007, 05:02 PM Why did they film this movie during a blizzard?
Raptor Red 12-29-2007, 12:35 PM I was going to order this in HD off of my cable, I wonder how good the quality is on a cable ordered HD movie. They cost 6.95.

Huh?
Brisbane 12-29-2007, 04:07 PM 300 came with my A3. What a ridiculous choice to put in the box with the HD-DVD player. It’s an ok movie but definitely has a grainy and otherwise strange PQ about it. It was the first movie I played. I was like … what the hell is this?? Then I popped in Transformers. Ok much better movie for HD.

300 was filmed in 2 sound studios against green screen.

It wasn't that bad. The grain was annoying, but the image was still very clear. I loved it :)
borromini 12-31-2007, 12:56 AM It amazes me how people get annoyed with an intentional grain effect in a film or that this is somehow inappropriate for showing off HD media. I personally think it's a great title to include with the player.
