I have owned this set for over 3 years and an very happy with its perfomance , picture quality, features and operation. I bought it just after JVC discontinued it and no longer made any CRT wide-screen sets besides the 30" that in now NLA.
I have no need to upgrade to LCD or DLP at this time. I wondered if there were any others of you who own this set. I use a VOOM receiver for a digital tuner thru the DVI inputs, Dish network DP - 501 sat receiver using S- VHS and an Samsung upconverting DVD/DVD Audio/SACD player on component. The internal tuner (NTSC) of the JVC works great with my outdoor antenna, I recieve all amy locals very good here in Wichita Kansas and a rotor to aim the antenna better.
Sure , all the second and first tier sets look good at the big box stores, but I like the tube look and the 34 wide screen is a good size for the room it is in.
When I was shopping for this set I included a SONY XBR and Wega set as an alternate. Both great sets, but having ownef lots of JVC equipment, I leaned to it for fuctionality. It is amazing to see the SONY 34's , used of course, selling and people looking for them. I agree they are great sets and still have great pictures.
Way down the road I will buy a larger set, most likely a DLP or LCD in the 42- 47 inch screen. Holding out to see who wins the HDDVD/Blu-ray contest and if the resolution stops at 1080p or magically steps up to another resolution.
Hard to belive how the TV market has changed in the past 5 years.
Who knows what will be selling in 2010.
Merry Christmas Everyone
