Dish Network 811 Receiver

I am lookking at purchasing an dish network 811 receiver and I want to connect via hdmi to my lcd. What cable do I need to do this. I know the 811 has only dvi connection. Is there a cable made that can adapt? Do I need male on each end if so? Thanks.

You can use an HDMI/DVI adapter available at most any place that sells HDMI cables. The video will work the same, but no audio.

Be aware the 811 has limited HD capability on Dish as more as channels continue to go mpeg4.

I have seen DVI to HDMI cables at Radio Shack. The 811 will be limited to HD only via OTA and sd programing only from Dish Network.

Wow, worse than I thought! So it could be an HD tuner for OTA only.. plus SD programming. I guess it has some worth. :)

So I will not be able to get HD channels via dish network with the 811?

No, it's been replaced by the 211 receiver, which has MPEG4 capability. The 811 can only do MPEG2.

If you already have HD service with a 622,or 211 or such, you may be able to get the 811 activated for the 5-6 HD channels that are still MPEG2 - but don't count on it.

I am currently running an 811 with the following HD channels using sat 110 and 119 only. 5710 TEST, 9467 PPV, 9466 NBA, 9465 MAVHD, 9460 SHO-E, 9456 HBO, 9424 ESPN, 9423 HDNMV, 9422 HDNET, 9421 HDTHR, 9420 TNT. What I am wondering is if I use SAT 129 will I get any of the meg 2 show listed there or are they going away. Please anyone using an 811 with more than 110/119, let me know what you get?
