I've seen a few posts claiming sucessful use of Hard Drives larger than 750GB with the 622/722 DVR's. No one posted specific make/models of these larger drives. If you are running a 1TB USB or larger with a 622, please post the make and model of drive you are using or PM me the info. Thanks. I'm still having too many problems with my 750GB Seagate Free Agent Pro, in spite of the software upgrades from Dish. It only works intermittently, and not all functions work. Paul

Have you done the 'fix' for Seagate FA drives? I don't know for a fact Dish software has been updated yet, or as you suggest it is even effective.
In any case, you can download the firmware from Seagate..since you have a 'Pro' drive you may already have it. And set the spin down interval to Never. It's a fix but not really a solution, but one many of us use. But in this case your drive will stay on 24/7 unless you connect power through your a/v receiver, etc. to shut it down when not in use.

If i can find a larger drive that works with the Dish DVR I'll migrate my recordings from the Seagate to the DVR to the new, larger drive. Then I'll use the Seagate via Firewire with my new 24" imac.

How much memory does one 2-hour movie take up on an external hard drive?

I used the Seagate Barracuda 1.5 TB ST315005N1A1AS as a test and it formatted and copied fine.
