mikebass 12-18-2007, 09:35 PM Dish is offering Cinemax for 1 cent a month for a year if you sign up for automatic bill pay and paperless billing. Call Dish, sign up for automatic bill pay and the csr will add Cinemax for 1 cent a month.
If you cancel the automatic bill pay you will be charged the full monthly price for Cinemax unless you call and cancel.
Thought I would pass this info along to all that might be interested.

Actually it's .01 a year for two years ... called last night after reading about it on another site !! So 2 years cost you a big 2 cents !!!
Iain1974 12-19-2007, 07:09 AM So do those of us already paying for it get a refund or is thie just for newbies?
What's Direct's number?...........
cire50 12-19-2007, 07:20 AM If you have had Cinemax for 6 months or more ... NO .. you don't qualify.
Hookster 12-19-2007, 07:21 AM That was a quick and painless promotion! :)
A call to 1-800-333-DISH, 1 for Billing, and then 0 for CSR.
(I already had Paperless, Autopay and DVR Advantage, for reference.)

My bad. It is only 1 cent a year for 2 years. What a deal. Can't pass this offer up. :yippee:
jmcooper 12-19-2007, 08:58 AM I signed up, took less then 3 minutes. Not sure if this guy new but he said after the first of the year more HD channels would be added.
tcarcio 12-19-2007, 09:37 AM Is this an HD chanell?
Hookster 12-19-2007, 10:31 AM Is this an HD chanell?
1 HD Channel, then the other C-Max channels. You debating on if it is worth the 1 cent? :)
mxz800 12-19-2007, 11:48 AM Wow took under three minutes most of that time was the woman saying "i'm sorry this will take a second" a few times. I already had paperless billing, she said it didn't matter.

Lucky me I got a man when i called. :)

Crap. I wish they'd offer Showtime for $.01 I've had the HBO-Max package for about a two years now, but I hardly ever watch Cinemax anyway, just the occasional movie. I wish they offered an HBO-Showtime package.
I just signed up too with no problems. Good for DISH... they didn't give me grief even though I am already signed up for paperless billing and AutoPay.
mjwkr 12-19-2007, 01:41 PM Whats everyone's opinion of auto pay? I am often leery of doing things like this as I am always affraid that if I have a dispute with a bill there may be some issues.
Just curious as I wouldn't mind adding Cinemax for .01.

I've had autopay with dish for nearly 4 years, never had a problem.
jim5506 12-19-2007, 01:56 PM I've had autopay and paperless billing for nearly 2 years.
I check my bill on line carefully and have not found any problems.

Try setting it up on dishnetworks webpage. I've always had it so not really sure if you can but it's worth a try.
Or better yet, call again until you get someone in America, not sure if thats possible though.
bradp56 12-19-2007, 03:53 PM THANK YOU, greatest deal ever.
educounselor 12-19-2007, 04:03 PM what a great deal....took me just a few minutes and cinemax until 1/31/2010 for 2cents!
bradp56 12-19-2007, 04:19 PM 2 CENTS Until 2010 WOW, I still cant believe it I had to ask the lady if this was really true.
fdersports 12-19-2007, 08:06 PM What a great deal. I already had autopay and all I had to do was go to paperless billing. Best two cents I ever spent. Icing on the cake was that one of the channels is in HD. Thanks Dish.
bradp56 12-19-2007, 08:11 PM Its a shame they dont better advertise this people might switch over.
jim5506 12-20-2007, 08:46 PM HEY, you're no longer griping about not having SciFi.
It works.
dj_808 12-21-2007, 10:22 AM thanks mikebass for posting this!!
mikebass 12-21-2007, 12:33 PM thanks mikebass for posting this!!
No problem. Glad to share the info. I still can't believe Dish has not advertised this offer. It's just for us lucky ones who find out about it I guess.
Len McRiddle 12-21-2007, 01:24 PM Thanks folks, going to sign up now. Doe's this start a new contract all over again? Will I be obligated to 18 months?
Len McRiddle 12-21-2007, 01:39 PM Just signed up, and It does not obligate you to another 18 month contract.
stardrift 12-21-2007, 04:21 PM This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch, besides paperless billing?
Is it a commitment to stay will Dish for two years and if you don't, you have to pay out the rest of the two year deal at regular price? Because I'm thinking of switching to DTV after my 18 month HD commitment is over, unless Dish passes them up on better HD programming.
Yes616 12-21-2007, 04:45 PM I bit the bait too. No mention of any commitment.
You may need to call back in a year to renew this offer to get that second year for a penny. That is what the guy I talked to said.
Now where is the bundle with HBO? I could do both for 2 cents a year. ;)
BTW.. Merry Christmas everyone!
kidtc 12-21-2007, 05:58 PM Yup i got it WOW freaking GREAT.I LOVE this site.:yippee:
Mattie_B 12-21-2007, 07:34 PM Wow I hope there CS is open on the weekend. Curious if I just go onto DishNetwork.com and sign up for paperless billing and auto bill pay does it automatically go on or do I still need to call in? Thanks for the info i'm digging this site more and more!
mxz800 12-22-2007, 12:19 AM When I signed up I thought it was just the one Cinemax channel. I was surprised to see Max-E, Max-HD, Max-W, MoMax, 5-Max, and ACMax. I guess it was worth the penny!!
Tim
stardrift 12-22-2007, 03:19 PM Too good to pass up and I got the Cinemax for a penny for two years.
The CSR told me I didn't have to call back in a year to continue getting Cinemax for the second year for a penny, but did tell me that if I cancelled autopay/paperless billing, I would automatically be charged $5.00 downgrade fee and lose the Cinemax channels. Great deal!

Amazing how different CSR's explain the story in their own little way.
I am sure you would not loose Cinemax if you went back to paper billing but you will start paying for the channels at full price.
The CSR I got said I needed to call next year to renew or the price would go to the regular price. I would call next Dec just to be sure.
Type A 12-22-2007, 04:20 PM Cool. Thanks Mike.

Did you ask about a commitment or was it just not mentioned? Just curious if they are doing this to keep customers until they get the new birds up or if the money they loose on intrest while waiting for payments and the costs of printing and mailing bills is really that much. Paying by Visa will cost Dish 3% (I think) so I would think that they would want the money to come from a bank account if possible. I have Starz right now and almost never watch it, not sure if I would watch Max either otherwise I would probably go for it too.

No commitment, and I was told it would automatically renew for another year, a year from when I signed up. I cant imagine anyone on this forum passing on this deal as it includes a 24 hour hd movie channel, cinemaxhd. I suppose if you live paycheck to paycheck and tend to pay your dish bill when you can, or have some strange attachment to your paper bill in the mail box every month, this deal just might not work for you. As for the auto bill pay, I always know the exact date and exact amount my dish bill hits my checking account (debt card), so it works great for me, Ive been signed up for abp for about a year or so now.
EditWiz 12-23-2007, 12:35 AM I just called to see whether I could get the Cinemax promotion even though I knew I did not qualify because I have had Cinemax within the past six months. I got my three months of free premiums when I switched to Dish in August, and that included Cinemax, which I dropped last month after the promotion ended. I was kind of hoping they might make an exception for me because I did keep HBO and Showtime.
The bad news (for me anyway) is, I do not qualify for the penny-a-year Cinemax promotion due to the "six-month" criterion. The good news is, because the promotion will run through January 2010, I can call back in five months and start getting Cinemax for a penny a year at that time. If I currently had Cinemax (which I don't, but a lot of subscribers do), I think I would just drop it now (figuring I could live without it for six months) and wait to get the promotion. Just my two cents (in this case, literally).
JeffJ72 12-23-2007, 07:51 AM Great deal, got it last night. Make sure you get a 'good' CSR. When my wife first called the girl didnt know about the special. But when I called back there were no problems.
jmrank 12-23-2007, 09:35 AM Geez, except for the CSR and I not being able to understand each other... that five minute phone call was certainly worth it!
:2cents !!
Vidfreek 12-24-2007, 12:19 AM Got mine fixed up as well, but they told me I cant get the Free Dish Mover anymore (which came with the 18 month agreement for signing up), but I'm not moving anytime soon so who cares, but its weird that they are saying so many different things to different people
BigAl58 12-24-2007, 06:26 AM One call, 2 minutes, a year of Cinemax. Hung up and it was already turned on. What other great deals are we missing????
bradp56 12-26-2007, 11:36 PM I need a showtime deal like this and I will be set.
noidea123 01-03-2008, 07:06 PM hi -
i live in a condo building that i guess has a contract with dish network. (our only option for pay TV is with Dish). some of our assessment goes towards a basic TV package with Dish.
i was told by a CSR that because of this type of setup I am not eligible for this promotion. anyone know if this is true?
thanks in advance.

Do you have an option as to what level of programming you can have from Dish or are you stuck somewhere? Can or do you need to change that through Dish or your condo association? Do you have options to order premiums? How do you need to change that? Dish or condo association?
What I am getting at is maybe if you go to your condo ass.., They can set you up. Maybe? It's worth a try. At least tell them about it.
jim5506 01-03-2008, 09:43 PM He probably has MPEG2 equipment, possibly an 811 if it's HD. the 811 can do qam through the sat feed for apartment headends.

Thanks for the post. They provide us with our regular programming, and I am able to add add-ons through Dish. I've added HBO, HD, and the 622. If any of that helps....
stchman 01-04-2008, 05:46 PM DISH is still doing it right now. I called them up and they gave me Cinemax HD for 1 cent a year for as long as I keep paperless billing. Paper billing must cost them a lot to give a premium channel away.
animalguy 01-04-2008, 06:05 PM Thanks for the post. I just chatted them online and they signed me up, I already had paperless and auto.
Vader1025 01-05-2008, 01:50 PM Thanks for the post. I just chatted them online and they signed me up, I already had paperless and auto.
Singed up too. The CSR didn't even know they were doing it but looked it up and added it.

Miggity 01-07-2008, 02:25 PM I just signed up. Painless and awesome. Thanks for the heads up!
passat25 01-07-2008, 10:18 PM All these guys who are saying the process was painless and awesome, wait until you get an indian chick on the line... It took like 15 minutes to sign up for the CINEMAX offer... By the way, there is not commitment for signing up, so if you are not tied to your 18 month commitment, you are good to go!... It will renew automatically after the first year for a penny if you don't cancel... If you want to cancel because you don't want your credit card debited automatically, you have to call DISH 30 days prior to 12 months expiration... Man, they must be saving a lot of money by going to paperless billing!!...
Gremraf 01-07-2008, 11:22 PM Thanks for the heads up, fairly painless to sign up for it.
Steve44 01-08-2008, 09:22 AM Thanks for passing along the information. I just called and got the promotion. Went on my credit card.
She told me my promotion will be $0.01 per year until January 31st 2010.
I don't watch cinemax (or for that matter any of the paid channels like HBO and showtime) much at all, but for 0.01, it's more than worthwhile even if I watch only one movie a month.
msusig1855 01-08-2008, 02:23 PM Signed up yesterday.. Thanks for the POST!! Great deal. I know they announced at CES that they are going to have 100 HD channels..my question is when??
Got HD-DVD A3 for Christmas - $200 + 5 Free HDM
Purchased 20 HD-DVDs = aproximately $20 b/c i had tons of BB gift cards
Can't believe I got in at the wrong time..= PRICELESS :thatsit
passat25 01-10-2008, 12:11 AM After watching CINEMAX for a penny for a couple days, I now realize why DISH is giving away this channel!... May be one or two movies were good, most of their movies are forgettable, just crappy programming... The worst movie channel... Funny I used to love CINEMAX on Friday nights back in the mid 90s... CINEMAX and all its kiddie porn movies were the bomb back then!...

Kiddie porn? Say what? Obviously can't be true but what did you mean?
As for the channel, yea I would not pay a $1 a month for this channel. I just got this channel a couple days ago and saw the softcore porn after 11pm. That'll get my fiance in the mood a bit more often :p That may be the only good thing about cinemax. But with all that said, for $0.01 a year? GREAT deal.
And I'm sure it's saving Dish a sh!t load of money not having to pay for print and postage.
Just got it!!!!!!!! Wow, great deal.

My bad!... I meant to say porn for high school kids... I guess you call it softcore porn...
billtetz 01-14-2008, 07:52 PM My DISH billing is bundled thru Embarq (to get a $5 monthly discount), so they're telling me I can't get this deal. Tried 3 times - once with Embarq, twice with DISH. One CSR told me I could get 3 months free if I unbundled, another told me I MIGHT be able to get the full deal, but it would take up to 2 months for unbundling to take effect. I hate to go thru the hassle if it might not work out in the end. So, no kiddie porn for me. It woulda been nice to get another HD channel, though.
phishfool_98 01-15-2008, 10:04 AM Well I tried to sign up for the 1 cent a month Cinemax. Since I'm a new Dish Network customer and I am getting HBO and Cinemax free for three months I do not qualify for the promotion without dropping my free HBO. The CSR told me that I could call back after my three free months are over and then sign up for the 1 cent a month Cinemax. The first CSR that I talked to told me that the promotion expired last Dec 07. I called back and talked to somebody else who gave me info I mentioned above.
phish
Len McRiddle 01-31-2008, 04:40 AM BUMP, today is the last day to take advantage of this offer.

bloodthirsty 02-05-2008, 12:23 PM I just saw this thread and would also like to know if the deal is still going on. Anybody know?
psssms 02-05-2008, 02:55 PM Yes they are still offering this promotion with the stipulation of:
You must have had Dish Network service for at least 6mos., and not have subscribed to Cinemax within that time frame.
mbd1475 02-05-2008, 05:04 PM Just wanted to confirm this offer still works.
I signed up yesterday for DISH and had it installed TODAY. And I called THIS AFTERNOON about 20 minutes ago, and asked for the offer. She took my debit card info and told me Cinemax would be working within 10-15 mins.
So no, there is NO requirement that you need have been a customer for at least 6 months (at least not with the CSR I got), although I would imagine that you would be ineligible if you had subscribed to Cinemax within the past 6 months.
so, BUMP! :yippee:
psssms 02-05-2008, 05:23 PM the only issue other than the CSR telling me that you have to be a customer for at least 6mos (liar), is that new customers prior to 2/1/2008 received 3mos free Cinemax and HBO. So this maybe the deal killer since I signed up for service in Jan'08. What irks me is that before I signed up for service I had asked if there was a special incentive for automatic bill pay. I was told no. I will wait until the 3mos free to see if I can call back for this promotion as suggested in a previous thread.
themallrat 02-06-2008, 01:34 PM Brilliant, got online and chatted with one of the agents and she signed me right up! I already have autopay and paperless and she said it did not matter. Great tip, can't wait to get home from work and cruise the guide for movies to record this week!
Richard
meant2live4him 02-06-2008, 02:33 PM I just e-mailed them and got upgraded......sweeet
rick355 02-06-2008, 05:44 PM I'm thinking about jumping on this deal, but I just have one question, can someone tell me if dish notifies you when they bill you, either by email or snail mail, or if you just see it in your bank statements?
NVM: just read on their website that they still send you a statement.
daleb 02-06-2008, 07:51 PM I just e-mailed them and got upgraded......sweeet
got to try that...!
themallrat 02-07-2008, 09:05 AM They do not send you a paper bill, they will email and let you know that the payment is pending, and you can then go to the website and view your bill. I have been on auto and paperless since I started with them last May and had no problems.
BTW got home last night and all Max channels are present and correct! :yippee:
Richard
meant2live4him 02-07-2008, 09:34 AM There's not a huge amount of great movies on it...but for 1 cent a month there's a few movies that I wouldn't mind recording to put on DVD
I saw something on Dish's website about how they're protecting stuff from being recorded...is that only HD stuff or is that everything? (By recorded I meant putting it on a DVD from my DVR)

Since they've added ext. hard drive capability they are supposedly adding more protection. For everything.

Well, I thought I would try and get this offer today. I was told by a CSR and the supervisor that since I have the cinamax I can not get the cinamax for 1 penny a year deal for 6 months after I cancel cinamax. So I guess I will try again during the week and see if I get a different CSR. I will keep everyone informed.
Hokie74 02-18-2008, 10:19 AM I tried to get this deal yesterday using the chat window on the web site. The CSR said I had to call Windstream since I had bundled service. I called them today and they said it was not available for Windstream customers.
wernus1 02-18-2008, 12:35 PM Just used the chat function to get it. Been on autopay paperless for 8 months plus, no problem getting hooked up. Brian
fhoegler 02-18-2008, 02:04 PM I did the auto chat yesterday also and was told the same thing again. Since I have cinamax, even the 3 month free offer, I have to not have cinamax for 6 months. So I hope this offer is around in September. I'm going to keep trying and when I cancel the 3month free deal march 16th I'll try again a couple of days later and see if they catch the 6 month wait.
SquaLLio 06-11-2008, 07:12 PM Is this offer still on the table? Didn't want to call unless I knew for sure! haha :D
jim5506 06-11-2008, 08:30 PM YES! Go For it.
Actually it's .01 a year for two years ... called last night after reading about it on another site !! So 2 years cost you a big 2 cents !!!
I just signed up for this promotion and the CSR I talked to insisted it is only for one year. No amount of talking could convince her otherwise. Who trains these idiots?
Yes616 06-12-2008, 08:06 PM It is a penny a year and can be renewed until 2010 at this time.
It also seems to be a "virtual penny" as I have never been charged.
Adrnlnjunky 06-14-2008, 06:55 PM I have mine bundled with Bellsouth. I wonder if I'm eligible for it. Guess I'll give it a shot.
Signed up for the special offer. Thanks for the heads up. BTW, have been signed up for paperless billing and autopay since I signed up over a 2 years ago. Also, was told to call back up in a year as Cinemax cost will revert back to normal prices.
Also, I am signed up for HD-only package (@$29.99/mo) so I imagine I will only be getting CinemaxHD. However, when I signed up for the HD only package, I was told that IFC and BET (and a few others that I cannot remember) would be added. When I queried the CSR, he said that DISH was "still working on it" and refused to disclose which channels they were working on:banghead: . Anyone know which channels have been promised?
racherracher99 06-16-2008, 04:09 PM Cinemax
BigAl58 06-18-2008, 06:45 AM Any way of knowing when you year is up without calling?
golfnut678 06-18-2008, 09:03 AM I signed up yesterday and was told to mark down the date and call back in one year to cancel if I didn't want to be charged the regular montly fee. Guess I'll call back in one year and ask if they will extend the penny thing another year.
JackieC 06-18-2008, 03:12 PM Cinemax for 1 cent for a year!
passat25 11-21-2008, 04:59 PM I signed up yesterday and was told to mark down the date and call back in one year to cancel if I didn't want to be charged the regular montly fee. Guess I'll call back in one year and ask if they will extend the penny thing another year.
It will renew automatically after the first year for a penny if you don't cancel... If you want to cancel only because you don't want your credit card debited automatically, you have to call DISH 30 days prior to 12 months expiration...
IT WON'T RENEW TO REGULAR PRICE UNTIL 2010!!! :haha:
VicnSue 11-22-2008, 07:14 AM It will renew automatically after the first year for a penny if you don't cancel... If you want to cancel only because you don't want your credit card debited automatically, you have to call DISH 30 days prior to 12 months expiration...
IT WON'T RENEW TO REGULAR PRICE UNTIL 2010!!! :haha:
Are you sure about that. I hope you are right but that doesn't sound right.
jim5506 11-23-2008, 04:07 PM Cinemax offer is for 2 years @ 0.01 per year. Expires 2010.
VicnSue 11-27-2008, 07:42 AM Thanks jim I will give it a try. My year is up in Jan.
nickf829 12-02-2008, 08:45 AM A little background: I am a old customer, i have been enrolled in Autopay since I first signed up for the Embarq service. They used this against me:
I called, first, embarq said they don't control this(idiot) then switched me to Dish, who said they don't offer those promotions, its upto embarq(true) so they called Embarq on there own, who told them that I don't qualify because its for "new users, that aren't already enrolled in autopay" so I called their BS, Dish told me to suck it up and live with it, so i asked to be switched to who they talked to and contest this.. so they did, the guy at embarq(IDIOT) who answered had no idea about this, and was about as worthless as a floppy disc. he said i should qualify but he can't control it, only Dish can. so he transferred me AGAIN to dish.. now I was pissed, they told me the same thing, that Embarq was responsible... i asked who to talk to about this that could tell me why i didn't qualify, they gave me this number: 888-333-9045
MUCH better.. i guess this is the customer service number. it took 18 minutes, but they did not once question my request, in fact they told me of there other promotion which is 3 months of HBO/Starz for free
so, 1 hour later, i got 1 year of cinemax for $0.01 then 3 months free HBO and Starz, with the included HD channels offered for each station
To hopefully save someone else the hassle:
-call 888-333-9045 prefferably from the phone on your account
-then press option 1(if you are calling from the phone on your account)
-then press 2(this may not be neccessary for all, i have dish coming out today to install hd so this option was "press 1 to talk about your appointment or press 2 for all other options")
-then press 2(for programming services)
-then press 4(for all other programming changes)
Now hopefully your CS rep will be as helpful as the one I had
eaglekiller 12-03-2008, 06:57 AM That was quick! I am signed up now too! :yippee:
And I already had auto pay.
Iain1974 12-03-2008, 07:10 PM Got it too.
I used to have all the premiums and canceled them in a fit of pique 6 months ago telling the CSR I was being screwed by not being allowed to get the Cinemax deal.
Now that they've lost my $40 x 6 they let me sign up without a problem.
Ironically, had they cut $10/month off my bill at the time I'd still have the others.
sharpvet03 12-13-2008, 02:46 PM I bundle my Dish through AT&T. Do I still qualify? Has anybody else tried this?
fhoegler 04-11-2009, 01:13 PM Just got my March 2009 bill and Cinamax was extended 1 year for 1 cent automatically. I was charged 1 cent on the bill where I was never charged 1 cent for the first year.
Jodean 04-11-2009, 03:34 PM unbelieveable......they must be really trying now...
i had the everything pak for last 5 years.
I just recently took off the movie channels as i was laid off.
I just today signed up for Cinemax 1 cent for a year offer and then she asked if i wanted to give them my email address incase they had any special offers later on, i said sure, and as soon as she entered that in, i was offered HBO and Starz free for 3 months and they automatically cancel after the 3 months.....
That sure is customer service!!!! and once again i got an english speaking person and answered more than the questions is asked!!!
COOL!!!
