HD receiver help

I currently have the HD Package with Dish Network and want to add another receiver. I have contacted Dish Network 3 different times and basically they told me to pound sand. They said I would need to purchase a receiver from a retailer and have it installed. I was looking on ebay and noticed many receivers for sale. How do I know if these receivers will work with my current system? Do I have any other options?

Dish will only lease HD receivers and upgrade them for their customers once every twelve months. You can either wait till that period is over or buy the receiver outright. Any Dish Network receiver listed on ebay should be ok, just make sure there is no balance owed on it by the seller. Get the R# and S# and check with Dish for any outstanding balance. Another line will have to be run to the receiver location from the switch/dish and then a phone call to Dish to activate it.

Thanks. I already have a line run to a current tv, it is just not HD. So if I buy a receiver and connect to tv via HDMI I should be set?
