Just upgraded to Dish Networks HD System. VIP 722 receiver hooked up directly to a ViZio 52" 1080P using HDMI 6ft long cable.
Some of the time on some of the channels (?) the video display is about 1/2 sec delayed after the audio. Does not happen all the time and appears to be no pattern to the problem. Happens on HD as well as SD channels.
I have called DishNetwork techs and they have checked the usual stuff (Dolby /PCM is selected for audio as well as switched from RF to Line). They checked my software version and all is up to date.
Any ideas ?? would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
gbelk

This has been an ongoing problem for Dish. Many have connected the component cables for video and digital optical or stereo for audio instead of HDMI which has corrected the sync problem is some cases.

This does help sometimes but on some of the not as popular HD channels I will still see this issue.

Have same problem, happens on or two other Dish HD receivers as well. In some other post here, sorry don't remember which one, someone claimed Dish was aware of the issue and was working towards resolving it.
Hopefully it won't take until Christmas, oh wait it IS almost Christmas

Ditto. I have had the same problem with the video lagging behind the audio. It is more apparent on sports channels. I had tried the dish suggestions with no success. I wish dish would add a video delay control to match the audio.

I doubt they will do that. Nobody wants to have to fiddle with an adjustment only to have to adjust it again every time you change channels.
Having a system that's self-correcting at the broadcast end is more likely in the future I would think. If you Google 'lip sync with HD broadcasts' you will find some industries already involved in a solution.
It's a universal problem, not really a 'Dish' problem.

Not a big deal, just annoying. I just dumped Comcast for DISH. I experience the same audio/video lag at times on my 722 receiver. I'm curious why DIH doesn't just add a delay adjustment like the one in Comcast's receiver software settings???

I agree it would be useful... but think of the support calls once 'my dad' gets it right for one channel, then *everything* else is off and he doesn't see why!
Unless it remembered audio delay / channel ... but it might change over time.
No, the solution is to get good sync at the final distribution point...
Get to it Dish!
