I currently have DISH and was wondering, in order for me to have my locals in HD, do I also need to have the Dish HD package that is $20.00?

Thanks.

If you want to receive them from satellite and they are available for your area, yes. I'll let someone else field the OTA option.

Wow, what a rip off. I dont need all the other ones, just locals, and if I want them in HD I have to pay 20 bucks. OTA isnt an option... so no fielding is necessary.

No, you do not need the HD package if your locals are available in HD. They are a part of the sd locals package, but you would wind up pay a $6 per month HD enabling fee if you don't take the HD pack. If they are not available via Dish, then you need an OTA antenna to get them. You would still pay the HD enabling fee unless you get an older receiver model (ie: 942, 921, 811 6000), none of which has the enabling fee attached to them.

I stand corrected. Nothing quite like misinformation. :)

Whew, thats what I wanted to hear. I have the 622, with HD locals already, and the HD package. I just just wondering bc I was thinking about cancelling the HD package for now and just keeping the Locals (in HD).
