well, i bought my first HD tv on the 24th of Nov. monday afternoon i turned it on and got a check fan no. 2 error on the screen. i called best buy and the lady on the phone had to have been a blonde (no offense to blondes, but damn) and told me to call samsung.

so, i called them. they had me unplug the tv for a minute or so and try it again. but it still had the message.

so, i called best buy number on the bottom of my recipt for the ext. waranty. guy came out yesterday afternoon, and now he's gotta replace the whole fan #2 assembly, which includes the color wheel.

Look at the bright side, some people buy the ExWar and never get to use it. You're one of the lucky ones.:D

If you bought the tv less than a month ago, you should return it. Somehow, these tvs that start out with problems seem to have them all their lives.

You are within the 30 day return window. Give it back.

my wifes about to shoot me. apperently she loves to watch MY tv.

oh well, i guess this will give me a chance to make a few changes to the entertainment center. its a big built in one that the guy we bought our house from made. its nice, but the space for the tv is limited. this 46" is the absolute biggest tv i could have fit in there.

i almost think the fan going out was my fault. it 'fit' in the space, but had no space on the sides, but plenty of space in the back. so, after it broke, i moved it and cut the sheetrock out on the sides to give it at least 3" on each side. hopefully that will be enough.

i'd post pics, but i dont have enough posts yet.:banghead:

well, the guy will be at the house sometime on wed. to install the new fan. i've still gotta wait till wed. morning for him to call and set up a time to come by.

wish me luck.

oh, now i should have enough post to show you guys my entertainment center.

That entertainment center looks Tobe a work of art. However that tv looks to take up all its space.I would be a little concerned about air space. That lamp as you know generates a lot of heat.Hopefully it won't shorten it's service life.

actually, now the opening on the inside of the tv space goes all the way to the wall past the white trim around the tv. so its got about
3" on each side, and a got 20 in the back. the trim is still there, its just got more room to breath on the sides.

i also redid the top area where the dvd palyer and cable box are. i took out all the boards that ran from front to back for the stuff to sit on and only put 4 back in so its just supports the dvd and cable box under there little nub legs. should creat more air flow. plus with the sheet rock cut out on the inside of the tv space, it goes all the way up to the top, though the wall. that make any sence? basically theres a 3 inch air channel on each side of the tv now.

Homer,

I'm not exactly sure why you are going thru Best Buy on a new tv. As I mentioned above, these rear projection tvs are prone to all sorts of issues. You should be going thru Samsung customer service as long as your original warranty applies.

The reason I say this is because if unfortunately this, or something else, becomes a recurring problem, BB couldn't care less. However, Samsung keeps track of repairs and at some point, if necessary, replaces problematic tvs.

I'm not suggesting that will happen, but ya never know :what:

i actually called samsung before i remembered i had an ext. warranty thru best buy. i've got a call from there service place, but its alway too late to call when i get home.

however, they did not call until a week after i contacted samsung.

i'll call them right now. hold on..................

ok, just got off the phone with the lady from 'jim's radio and tv service', anyway, they could pick the tv up tomorrow and bring it to there shop. then they would order the parts and fix it. basically it would have been another 2 weeks or so from the day they pick it up. so, i'll see what happens friday with the best buy repair guy.

next time something happens to this tv (if its any time soon, my wife will kill me) i'll call samsung and then jim's radio and tv. now that i know who there local repair center is. the first number samsung gave me was to a repair shop in FL. they faxed the repair info to them, and also gave me there #.

wish me luck dudes. i'm off work the week of christmas and i would be nice to be able to watch some 'good' tv.

I second clearday's comment about taking it back, get a credit and tell them to get a new set to you

well, the repair guy came out this moning.

he repalced the light engine, which is the color wheel, fans, and even the bulb.

it worked, but the picture was to far up. it had a black bar across the bottom. he messed with it and now the thing just truns on, and turns itself back off. he said the DMD board is bad now.

i'm taking this @&^#! back!!!

my pregnant wife will give them hell if they dont make right on this!!

i found a local store, that is not best buy that has 2 of this tv in stock. if i can talk her into it, i'd be happy just returning this one and going there and buying a new one.

OK, now that you are taking it back I will say that there were many problems with the 46" dlps, so many in fact that they stopped making them. There seemed to be a problem with the small size of the tv and the angle of the dlp lens, or something to that effect. You show the model of your tv as HLS, this year's models are all HLTs, so that model is either a refurbished unit or a left over set from last year (the new models came out in March 07). If you possibly can fit it, get a 50" DLP, HLT model, or for ease of life going forward, an LCD. LCD's are much less problematic.

I hope you don't take this as as "I told you so", because it's not, I just think you will be happier with something other than this particular size of DLP and something that is a 2007 model.

i know, live and learn. it wasnt until after i got it home that i realized it was a leftover from last year.

i'm gonna measure and see how hard it would be to get the 50" to fit in there.

if i dont post, like ever again, please somebosy call the police, cause my wife has killed me.

ok, all's well over here. no need for a search party.

we took the 46" back and got our money back. bought the 50" instead. its only the 720p model, but it still looks awesome. i had it sitting on a tv stand cause it was soo much bigger then the 46" that i had to make my entertainment center.

my dad came by today and its all done, just need to get it put back in the space. my wifes 8+1/4 months pregnant, so i got a buddy coming over to help shortly.
