I have the piece of junk I am not satisfied with it! I like the DishNetwork HD lineup. But it constantly freezes up this is the second 622hz DVR reciever I have had for the same issue. At&t does not offer in home technicians they send out Dishnetwork tech's and all of them say they are not familiar with it and ask me where the service menus on it.Does anyone else have this issue. The last tech out here said it was because I do not have 3 prong outlets saying there is no ground only a hot and a neutral. Is this likely?I have the homezone package I use the reciever as a music player device you can upload your music and photos to it for those of you not familiar with the unit.Thank you in advance for any input..........:banghead:

The ViP622 has NOT been junk for me. Have an occasional issue, but nothing life threatening.
Having the same problem twice *would* indicate the issue could be outside the box. If grounding is a possible suspect, I would turn the power off to the outlet where the 622 is plugged in, take the cover off the receptacle and see how the wiring looks. I would also grab an inexpensive plug tester to determine whether the outlet is wired properly. I found many of my own outlets had the hot and neutral reversed.
If there is not a ground, and it's a metal box, you can install one to the metal box, and tie it in to the receptacle. If you're not handy with this type of stuff, call an electrician. Could be a quick fix.

I've had the VIP622 for 3 months with no problems at all. I also have outlets with no ground imput. I do have the receiver plugged into a surge suppressor with 3 prongs, but it is plugged into the 2 prong outlet. Not sure if it is your wiring or just bad luck with 2 receivers because from what I've read here and other places, the 622 doesn't usually give many problems. By the way, before I got the 622 I had the 921 HD-DVR receiver for over 3 years and it froze up all the time. Good luck.

Sounds like the dish itself isn't grounded properly. That happens frequently and many so called tech's never bother to look for that problem.
