I'm sure that this topic has been covered many many times here but I just got my DISH set up and for the most part i'm really pleased. But I paid extra for the off air and I can only get NBC in HD. Not happy. I'm hearing that in my area - Savannah, GA we are getting local HD in January or February. Any idea where i can confirm?
thanks!

Wow, sounds good! Your local channels are being received through the satellite or a local antenna? I have a HD antenna in my house to pick up local channels an it does a pretty job, some are broadcasting HD programs! My local channels also are received via the satellite and are not HD.
Far as confirming your local channels for HD, I would recommend calling your area Dishnetwork installer or Dishnetwork themself.

On last nights Charlie Chat, Charlie himself said they intend to start adding HD locals in the spring and have 100 by the end of 2008.
But don't hold him to that.

On the lame, lame Charlie Chat they had a graphic of the USA with circles on the areas where locals are available now and where new ones would be coming in 2008. It looked promising for people even in smaller markets.
Example: Now in Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston. In 2008 even the tiny markets of Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland and Abilene were lighted up -- set for 2008 availability.

Yeah, and some of the dots on the map were big enough to cover more than one major city. I guess the dots were there to cover more than that. :(

Check out all the Savannah locals here. The big 4 nets and CW are available in HD. You are much better off doing a good OTA antenna. Retro TV (sharing space with MyTV in SD) is on one of the digital sub channels. Dam.. I am near NYC and we can't even get that one.

Does dish have any sort of service (or a web page) we can subscribe to that would update us on when the locals come available in HD via the satellite?
