Plasma TV setup with Dish 301

Hello,

I don't have a HD receiver but I thought I would pose my question.

Just bought a new Plasma 42" TV and hooked my DVD Recorder and Dish up to it.

The Dish receiver only has A/V outputs + S-Video. The DVD Recorder has composite out and A/V in.

I find the picture quality to be quite choppy, even on a DVD, plus with regular TV.

Is there anything I could do better since the dish receiver only has A/V outputs I'm worried there isn't

Thanks for any help.

Unless you upgrade to an HD receiver or dvd player with HDMI or component outputs, you cannot do anything else to improve the picture quality.

I think you'll find that unless you get an expensive DVD recorder your only option for video INPUT to it will be S-Video or composite. I looked quite a bit before I got mine and only high-end (big $$$) recoders had component INPUTS. I was pleasantly surprised with the pq from the DVD's I've recorded though. I'm using the S-Video from my 722. Recordings from HD aren't HD of course but they're very good and I'm pretty fussy.
You should upgrade to a HD receiver so you can really enjoy that new plasma! I've got 3 HD TV's and the SD on all of 'em isn't that great.
