I just got the Dish network installed and we have a projector in our room. We had cable before and the HD channels looked awesome on the screen.
Now with Dish, the supposed HD channels look OK but they are definitely not breathtaking like cable was.
I noticed on our other TV with the ViP211 box, when you go to a HD channel there is an onscreen option to change the HD format. The 722 box only has NORMAL in that box with no option to change.
I've gone into the menu and set HD to 1080, but it just looks like it's lacking, a good picture but just not looking HD.
I am using a very good high speed HDMI cable.
Any ideas?

Something's wrong. If you're viewing an HD channel that's actually sending out HD (sometimes they're not) the pq should be great.HD Theater or HD Net always are true HD, for example. I have both a 622 & a 722. You can change the format on either one with the format button on the remote--bottom left. However, the pq should be best on normal for 16:9 viewing. I know you said you're using a good HDMI cable but have you tried component, just for kicks? Could still be a bad cable or HDMI output. I would have guessed you were still on 480p but you've already set it to 1080i. I'm ignorant about projectors but on a TV I would make sure it was set to the correct mode and format. Could that be wrong on your projector? Good luck!

Still sounds like your 722 is in 480i not 1080i. The normal, stretch, partial zoom, zoom and greybar options should also be there when you press the format button.

I found the format button and see that it works but still does not affect the HD quality. I took Ed's advice and hooked up component cable and it actually looks much better with component than with the HDMI.
I've also noticed severe ghosting on dark pictures with the HDMI cable, this goes away using component.
Is it possible the cable is bad? Hell, I paid $120 for this 6ft HDMI cable.

$120?!?! HDMI cables can be had for around $30 at Wal-mart. Cheaper if you purchase from a online retailer. I too would suspect a bad cable. Your pq should be rock solid with HDMI.

AMEN!!!
I've got 6' cables from monoprice.com on 3 different HD TV's that work just fine. They were UNDER $5 @ piece!
Something is wrong with his cable, the HDMI output or his projectors video adjustments for that input are outta wack. JMHO. Dunno diddly about projectors but my TV's all have separate adjustments for each input. On one, the component connections provided MUCH better pq initially. After tweaking, I can't tell the diference between HDMI and component. The contrast and brightness was set much too high on the HDMI input.

I returned my HDMI cable to Compusa today.. good thing as they had ALL SALES FINAL signs up everywhere, guess they are going out of business.
Anyway.. looking at monoprice, I see there is HDMI and HDMI 1.3 now.
What's the difference?

The format button on the remote does not select the output resolution to the tv, only the "format."

Double check your connection and the setup of both the 722 and the projector.
Output resolution should be either 720p or 1080i on the 722 and must be connected via either component or HDMI cable. It sounds like you have a composite connection or s-video. Check the source setting on the projector to make sure it is either the component or HDMI and not the composite or S-video.
