Upgrading to HDTV

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere...

I'm upgrading my DiSH service to HD with a new HDTV. Now with the new TV, ViP722 receiver and associated HDMI cable(s) etc., will I need a new satellite dish (currently have DiSH 500) too?

You will either have your current dish upgraded or a second dish installed. Cannot give accurate info without knowing your location.

I live in Bucks County PA and I currently have the Dish 500 installed on the side of my house. I will be upgrading to get HD next week and would like to know if they are going need to install a second Dish on the side of my house.

I called to ask them but the CSR told me they would not know till a Tech gets to my house, I find that hard to believe but annoying.

You will need a second dish installed. It does not have to be on the side of the house since it will have to be pointed about 85 degrees counter clockwise from where your dish 500 is pointed.

No, depends on where you are. Along the east coast, 129 is not usuable (OP is in New Jersey). You say you are in AZ, one dish will work for you.

The answer may still be, it depends. I'm on the West coast & when the system was install they used 2 dishes. Installations around here were having too much trouble with a single dish with the need to pick up sat 129. Even with the 2nd dish I still loose 129 too often and the dish dedicated to 129 is larger than normal. Maybe further S on W coast isn't such an issue.
