How much would those thieves at Dish Network charge a loyal 6 year customer for a second Vip622 receiver for their home?

More than you can get it elsewhere. Take a look at this - http://www.solidsignal.tv/prod_display.asp?PROD=DVR622

I paid $150 for the second 622 installed. It is a lease. Seemed a reasonable fee to me.

I purchased mine because I just couldn't justify paying $150 for a leased product and they don't require a "lease fee" for any of their other models (except for the new 722). At least I now own it and may do with it as I please whereas with the leased unit you have to give it back when you terminate service. But of course that is totally up to each individual.

That's a great price for 622 to purchase but I personally would never buy again. Unless the promotion is over, I think the net charge to lease a 622 is $49 after rebate. $99 for a 722. Of course you may have to wait 'til hell freezes over before you see the rebate, LOL. Don't ask me how I know. I've got an nice Dish 921 DVR that was the latest & greatest just a couple of years ago sitting in a closet. I paid $549.00 for it and many paid $999.00. Now it makes a great door stop or paper weight. Oh, Dish'll credit me $10 if I send it back to them.

If you've been a good customer for 6 years they'll lease you a 2nd unit. You just have to play CSR roulette long enough. Tell 'em you want customer retention or email ceo@echostar.com .I was able to lease both a 622 & a 722 within a 3 week period this past August/September. I have been with Dish for 10 years. I am waiting to see $200 in credit and not holding my breath, however. Just my:2cents

You know that 921 still makes for a good HD tuner.

Yes, but no mpeg4.

Anybody wanna buy a good HD tuner???

"No mpeg 4" Yep, that's my point, God know how long it'll be before the 622/722's will be antiques. Another example: I've got a 5 year old Mitz RP HDTV that I paid BIG $$$ for. Still has a nice HD pic but only has component inputs. No Blue Ray/HD DVD or XBox 360 HD and I'm afraid it won't be long before some HD won't be recordable even with a HD DVR 'cause of HDCP. How long before HDMI is no longer adequate? Geeze, maybe I should lease my TV's. Technology just keeps advancing too fast for this old fart.:what:

All HD DVD machines I have seen have component out. And BTW I was talking about the 8VSB tuner, you know ATSC.
