In single mode my Dish Network ViP622 seems to have two HD tuners even though the literature states TV 1 tuner is HD and TV 2 tuner is SD. Watching HD programing in single mode I can record one HD program and watch a different HD program. Both seem to be HD because they are 16:9 and are HD quality by my eye. I have one hdmi cable going from the DVR to my HD plasma. Does anyone know why the specs state only one HD tuner?

The book and the concept is confusing. The 622 has three HD tuners - two for satellite and one for OTA. This makes it possible to watch HD programs while recording others. The 622's HD OUTPUTS are assigned to tv1, you can watch HD channels on tv2 outputs but they are downrezzed to sd.

Ok- after reading the above. When the Dish guy first hooked up my 622 I had the option to record 2 HD programs at once... one while watching another etc. I had to get a new box. How do I get it back to that option? It also gave me twice the DVR space I believe.
Thanks!

Sounds like he was trying to sell you another HD receiver.

Did you get a new 622? If so, it should be the same... You should be able to record TWO HD programs while watching a THIRD!
However, as far as I know, all 622's have the same sized hard drive, so I doubt you had "twice the DVR space" :what:

Should you not be able to record 3 at a time?
TV1 - Dish programming (1) and OTA (2)
TV2- Dish programming (3)
Of course assuming you are not trying to record two from the same satellite.

The 622 has 3 tuners, therefore you can simultaneously recieve 3 programs at the same time, in HD if available. Two of the tuners are satellite. Third is antenna. In theory you can (because I have) record 2 shows on satellite (or one satellite and one antenna), and watch a third live. This is only possible with an antenna. In addition if you really want to confuse things, at the same time in dual mode another person could be watching a recorded program.
This is what makes the 622 an awesome piece of equipment and honestly is keeping me from switching to DTV. There are times i am watching (and recording) NASCAR, recording Redskins, and recording American Chopper, but my wife is watching Opra recordings.
only happens a couple times a year but it does happen.

He wasn't trying to sell me a new reciever. Dish replaced the reciever at no cost. I just believe something on the new reciever needs to be 'changed' to allow me to watch HD and record HD at the same time. I do have an OTA antenna hooked up.
I'm sure I had twice the recording space. I think it allows you to use TV2's DVR space also. I had the entire season of the Soprano's, the entire season of Entourage, and all the episodes of Planet Earth.... plus a couple of extra shows here and there. Still had room left to record more HD programming. Now I only have about 30 hours of space in HD....
Weird. It's starting to bug me that I don't get to see the Office because she wants to watch Grey's.
Thanks.

Put the receiver in single mode with record plus activated.
Actually it can record three HD programs regardless of mode, it just changes how it is output and to which recorder (TV1 or TV2) it is recorded.
